Reading this, some people already put what I was thinking... stuff like Bob Marley, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, you know, the obvious stuff. (On a side note, glad to see Mr. Bungle up there too, because I didn't think a lot of ppl know about the band.) So, I'm going to put some stuff that wasn't mentioned:

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is tight when you're high)
The Beatles - Abbey Road (the 8 mins. of "I Want You" is a trip, and this is THE album with all the subliminal messages)
Iron Butterfly (They did In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, a 15-mins. trip)
Prince - LoveSexy
Prince - The Black Album

It used to be Led Zeppelin albums, now it's NIN, but Pink Floyd is always a constant.

This should be in everyone's record collection, no matter how you feel about this group in general.

Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves (or anything from that period).
Listening to those records was about the only thing I liked to do stoned.

Dunno. Motherfuckers always force me to listen to reggae when I'm over their place. You really need the weed to get over that anyway.

Yeah, Tricky's "Maxinquaye" and Portishead were THE albums I remember listening to daily back when I still got high. lol It's funny, I move to Holland where you can get any and everything, and smoking just doesn't interest me anymore. biggrin

Dude... you gotta research this. This whole album is great (and weird at times, even when you're not high), but when you're stoned, this shit is trippy. But yeah, research this shit. There's plenty of shit hidden beneath the audio, and there's plenty of "clues" about how "Paul is dead" on the album artwork. shhh

On a side note, not sure about the whole album, but the Led Zep song "Moby Dick" is something like over 10 mins., and most of the track is Bonham's drumming. Not sure about how great it sounds when baked, but you should try it. I believe it's on Zeppelin II.

The studio version of Moby Dick isn't that long. Check out the version from "How The West Was Won" and also the DVD. They're about 20 minutes long, and with the DVD you get the visual to go with it as well. nod Bonham finishes up after 20 minutes of freak of nature playing, takes a swig of his beer, and they continue on to the next song with no break at all. It's insane!

Yeah, I know. Bonham was an insane drummer. The studio version is something like 7-8 mins. long, right? I thought about just rounding up though... But yeah, I own Zep II, but I don't have the How The West Was Won collection. Friend of mine owns it, and I went to his house the other day, so I checked out the CD. You're right. The song is like 18 mins. long, most of it a drum solo. If I'm not mistaken (because I haven't seen the video), but doesn't Bonham break his sticks sometime during the end of the song and start playing with his hands before picking up another pair? Sure sounded like it. But anyways, I'll be sure to check the video. The swig of beer into the next song sounds wild, but you know, we're talking John Bonham, so it's not that farfetched.

I know about the "Paul is dead" nonsense and the "clues" on the sleeve. I was wondering about what was actually hidden in the music. And the version of Moby Dick on Zepp II isn't anything over 5 mins. wink

Ok. Yeah. I checked. Moby Dick on Zep II is 4:25. For some reason, I thought it was about 7-8 mins. long, or longer than 5 mins at least. weed But I know for a fact that on How The West Was Won it's about 18 mins.

Anyways, behind the audio on Abbey Road. I believe there is something masked in the first song, Come Together, right before John starts to sing the last verse of the track. It's after the solo I think. I also heard from somewhere that there were bits and pieces of things around tracks 10-through (whenever the tracks start bleeding together). The whole album is pretty trippy, but see what you can find.

Yeah, the version on the live HTWWW cds is also almost 20 minutes long, as is the version from the DVD. The DVD version of that show was filmed in 1970 at the Royal Albert Hall. The live cds (HTWWW) were recorded in '72 in L.A. Anyway, he does do part of the Moby Dick solo with his hands on both. Speaking of Bonham, here's a link to another thread about some drum tracks of his:

http://www.prince.org/msg/8/133511

Side note: Zeppelin are receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award tonight as part of the Grammys. woot! Too bad Bonzo can't be there. sad

In 'Come Together', John sings "shoot me", but it's masked to sound like he's saying 'shoot' or 'shooo'. They put a bass note and a handclap overtop of it.
