Well, first off, you can't be more of a "real" musician than I am. That said, do I admire Lenny as an artist? No. Musically, his stuff has always beem a retread of something or somebody else. And no, he doesn't have his own sound. BUT, as another black musician, I do RESPECT Lenny as another BLACK man trying to do his thing regardless. I won't knock Lenny for digging Zeppelin and Prince and wearing his influences on his sleeve. That's his way of showing it, then so be it. No, he's not the most talented cat to have ever got down, BUT Lenny's been around in the biz since 89, and that's no small feat.

Lenny's not a favorite of mine, but I respect him. The dude can play. It may not be what some of us want to hear all the time, but a guy's gotta do his thing. I at least respect the fact that even though he wears his influences on his sleeve, his albums still create some "musical space" from one another as they don't all sound the same.
