I agree. I'm not quite sure why so many people truly dislike Lenny. I've seen him 3 times in concert, in various stages of his career. And yeah, he does put on a great show. Me being a black musician, who has always played rock, will always support another black who's doing the same. Sure, he's biting off of Hendrix naming this his "Electric Church" tour, but whatever. Prince has done a lot of biting off of Hendrix himself, so that's nothing new either. I say right on to them both. They are brothers being able to do what they want. I also agree. It kind of pisses me off because we need more Black people in Rock and as soon as there is one, everybody makes the Prince references like somehow Prince invented Rock and any Black people doing it has to be doing it because of him and don't let them look a bit freaky or flamboyant - they have to be copying Prince then. But it's somehow okay for all these rappers to go out and copy each other, look like each other and sound like one another and no one says anything about that. I listen to a lot of Black rock and supported Black people brave enough to get into Rock, and it amazes me how the Prince references would start in when a number of these guys had nothing to do with Prince or even listened to him. Even now, it's hard for Black people to do Rock and many of them get pushed off by the wayside because they aren't taken seriously. I support Black people who are doing Rock and they get points if they dress flamboyant and look a bit freaky. I'm not a big Lenny fan, but I'm glad he's around. LQ | |

I think it's just the fact that that idiot Kravitz just isn't original and just keeps scoring with his excellence in biting off and stealing from real artists and musicians... Lenny Kravitz is just a cheap cover/nostalgia act, if the guy just did something original for a change and developed his own sound (which he still doesn't have) I think he'd get alot more respect from real musicians and artists, now he just gets the respect any $5 marching band consisting of retards without hands would get and he doesn't deserve any better... This also coming from a black musician... Neversin. | |

I dunno. Maybe if I see a setlist before tix go on sale & it sounds cool I might hit it. But if he's doing a bunch of new shit I can't do it, his last 2 albums suck blue balls | |

----- I am sure he is better live but let's face it he has really fallen off and for some reason he gets a pass. The music media and everybody on this board has no problem screaming that P has fallen off but Lenny gets a total pass from the media. I think he could be a great artist if just tried to find his own style and stopped living in P' shadow. He copies him so much it is begining to look creepy. | |

I don't get it. Obivously, since you put Kylie in the same category as Britney and 50 Cent. | |

No. Musically, his stuff has always beem a retread of something or somebody else. And no, he doesn't have his own sound. BUT, as another black musician, I do RESPECT Lenny as another BLACK man trying to do his thing regardless. I won't knock Lenny for digging Zeppelin and Prince and wearing his influences on his sleeve. That's his way of showing it, then so be it. No, he's not the most talented cat to have ever got down, BUT Lenny's been around in the biz since 89, and that's no small feat. Lenny's not a favorite of mine, but I respect him. The dude can play. It may not be what some of us want to hear all the time, but a guy's gotta do his thing. I at least respect the fact that even though he wears his influences on his sleeve, his albums still create some "musical space" from one another as they don't all sound the same. | |

Interesting comments. I agree with you. Lenny is unfairly disliked for reasons I just don't get. | |
