Music boffs familiar with D'angelo and Maxwell....

What's that sound effect used at the beginning of Maxwell's Til The Cops Come Knockin' and in the chorus of D'angelos Devils Pie?

I hear it in quite a few R&B records. Anyone know?

Thanks!

No, it ain't scratching.

Listen to the chorus of Devils Pie. It's the high pitched sound effect in the background and it descends as he sings "for a slice of the devils pie."
