stupid question: what genre of music is J.JCale?

hey

I bought his best of CD yesterday, and I'm enjoying it very much. But I can't quite decide what genre of music he falls under. can anyone answer me this one...cause my entire system of ordering my cd collection is about to collapse.

Difficult to class him. He does blues, country, lots of stuff. Heartfelt,'simple', 'uncomplicated', tunes.
HMMMMM,hmmm
Best option is a 'roots' musician.

Someone I know recommended I use the music genres as posted on www.allmusic.com

They have him pecked in ROCK, styles;
Blues-Rock
Singer/ Songwriter
Roots Rock
Southern Rock
