she sings live more than the Jacksons... and she's pretty good at it.

and i have all the audio for the tours. i'll let you have them to prove my point.

What a joke.... lol lol lol
First of all if you want to campare her to someone, compare her to a lipsyncher (Britney, Ashley Simpson, Milli Vanilli...)

She sucks...

If she wasn't there, there will be no Britney, no Jenifer Lopez, no Ashley Simpson...

It would be so great....

Hmm, well, when Madonna does something like the HIStory tour where she lipsynchs everything except for a couple of stupid adlibs and grunts, then I'll compare her to a Jackson. When Madonna does awards shows like the Grammys (circa Man in the Mirror) and lipsynchs the song, then I'll compare her to a Jackson. When the live performance that Madonna is most known for (ie: Motown 25) is lipsynched, then I'll compare her to a Jackson. Until then, though, I'll take her flat, stretched, beat live voice any day over a Memorex tape.

absolutely, it shows she at least puts effort into her performances.

LOL, for Madonna not being an influential artist, this thread has become like many threads turn to on the org.

A Madonna thread.

i think the reaction in this thread proved justice to madonna

When people think of Madonna, they don't think of Jesus’ mother anymore; that’s influence. Madonna could easily be number one on this list, she’s been the most influential woman in the world for the last 20 years… influential than more talented women and certainly more influential than women who barely recorded. Madonna’s influence isn’t based on her abilities, but on her image, if abilities were part of the criteria, Fantasia Barrino would be more influential.

When I saw Madonna humping the floor or dancing with a wet t-shirt next to Lenny Kravitz. lol, I thought why do people like this bitch, she sucks? I mean her vids are cool, some songs are catchy…. but for someone reason her fans are attracted to me or me to them….I can’t get rid of them…. their the worst friends to have……I find it best not to argue with them. zipped

Madonna fans will always try to mix her in with company she doesn’t belong in., but she definitely belongs on this list.

When Madonna can sing flawlessly on stage for 30 years, (sounding better than a studio recording) I’ll start comparing her to mike jackson.

When the live performance that Madonna is most known for (ie: Motown 25) is lipsynched,

Motown 25 wasn’t just about Billie jean, it was also about the Jackson 5 medley which was sung live and quite beautifully.

then I'll compare her to a Jackson.

When Madonna can dance like Eleanor Powell and sing like Barbra Streisand, that’s when I’ll compare her to Michael Jackson. When she can dance better, then I might compare her to Janet.

Instead of critisizing other people's points, why not share your views dear?
[Edited 2/11/05 3:54am]

I've already done that in the most succinct way possible. Read it if you care, dear. Plus, I already know the song and dance the Madonna brigade goes thru to defend her. Nothing new, and I'm not interested in the jig.

Madonna is the most overrated artist of all times...

The only reason why she's been successful through the years, is because she's the first to understand that sex and controversy sell.... She's a genius in marketing.

If we only talk about music (not about fashion, hype, style or controversy ), she has nothing... No voice, No talent, No skills....

She sucks so badly....

Putting on the same list Aretha Franklin and Madonna is a disgrace....

Madonna is in the same category as Britney, Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez or Ashley Simpson...
[Edited 2/11/05 4:11am]

Now that's not very nice.

I've heard of sterotypes against black people
I've heard of sterotypes against gay people
I've even heard of stereotypes against the elderly

But this is the first time someone openly admitted to sterotyping Madonna fans. What a fascinating world we live in....

Hey, I have Patsy on my list. smile

Kinda sad this thread got jacked by a bunch of Madonna freaks -- as if she ain't some kind of hybrid artist influenced by those much greater than her who came before her (i.e. all the other women mentioned in this thread -- and you don't see their fans jackin' threads).

What about Nina Simone and Karen Carpenter?

eek Karen Carpenter influential?

Just because you sing Close to You while you shower doesn't make her influential shake

Hello?

Richard and Karen Carpenter developed the blueprint for the "Soft Rock" sound which dominated FM radio in the late seventies and early eighties.

Many people on this thread have listed Madonna as an influential female, but Madonna's low singing style on many of her ballads was directly influenced by Karen Carpenter - so much so, that it's almost an impersonation.

Take a listen to:

Crazy For You (Co-Written by Carpenters collaborator John Bettis)
This Used To Be My Playground
Rain

"Goodbye To Love" with it's slow-burn start and squealing guitar ending practically invented the Rock Ballad genre. Karen was as much a part of that sound as her brother was - thus she is influential.

In the spirit of so much of the "logic" on this thread:

"Mama" Cass Elliot was the first pop star to die from choking on something in her sleep. She therefore influenced many similar rock star deaths.
