>I was glad there weren't 1000 useless dancers twitching around the stage and no crotch-grabbing guest rapper. I guess if you grew up on MTV (which I didn't) you expect every act to put on some heavily choreographed Busby Berkeley type production (generally to mask their lack of talent). Outside of the fireworks, what I saw was a guy that wrote some cool tunes having a good time performing them.

Oh, and not once did the thought, "Is this live or is it *MEMOREX.", ever cross my mind.<

Thank you- the voice of reason, ladies and gentlemen.

All of the children attending a party I was at was complaining about how they wanted more people, a different variety of acts, and spectacle, and entertainment. I guess people can't be entertained anymore by live performance by real musicians. They decided to turn it to MTV instead, I just kept my mouth shut but I was shaking my head.

It's a shame that none of my friends like real music, then they say ashlee simpson is a true artist because she can't dance.

Honestly, it was a great performance, but I DO believe he was lip-synching. I say that based on some of the close-ups, and the fact that his flawless singing voice got all ragged when he was calling out to the crowd.
Just my opinion.
If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

I'm not sayin this cause he's one of my favorite artist...

but you can debate or bitch about what songs he sang, that really doesnt concern me, what was the biggest suprise for me is how great his vocals sounded, and how tight his band is.. they were dead on it.. if u would.

I agree 100% with you Sdldawn - Sir Paul kicked ass. It doesn't surprise me at all to read that many on this site found his performance boring. I guess they miss all the excitement of a "wardrobe malfunction" and lip-syncing.

Paul's vocals were right on. He sounded as great as ever and he looked good too. His choice of songs was excellent. Live and let die really got the crowd going. Excellent performance by one of our truly great singer/songwriters!!

I like crotch-grabbing and backup dancers. biggrin biggrin And lip-synching is appropriate in certain situations. The lip-synching issue is way overblown.

We had a little get-together,so I didn't see ANY of the performances coz I was playing hostess. However, our guests couldn't wait for the half-time to end: obviously they are NOT fans of Paul McCartney. If Lenny or Prince had performed, they would have been more interested in the half-time, but actually they came over to see the game.

Also we got into a brief discussion about last year's show. NONE of them thought that Janet's breast was that big of deal. In fact, they said it was only shown for a second, so what was the whole uproar all about? And these people are pretty conservative. Oh well, thank God another year has come and gone. Maybe the wardrobe malfunction discussion will finally be put to rest.

Wow, I think that The Beatles should be mandatory in academics. This is classic material, people. A lot of the music of the past forty years has been seriously ripped off from The Beatles. Their music is timeless.

Not Paul McCartney fans? confused I weep for the future.

I don't know if the Beatles should be mandatory in academics, however, I do agree that they made some great influential music in their day. People who don't have respect for Paul or any understanding of what the Beatles did for music - I weep for your future too. Someone said they would rather see Janet again rolleyes PLEASE!!!

I just thought of something. I'm turning into my parents. I remember them telling me back in the day that the old bandleader music was classic. Maybe it's the age gap.

Don't cry for us: we just happen to prefer John Lennon and George Harrison, but they have passed. Not everyone is a fan of Paul's. wink I still haven't gotten over the fact that he wanted to claim Yesterday as his own. In fact, we we were discussing that last night. I said that it was sad that he waited years after John's death to do such a thing. One of our guests replied, "Well, if Paul had tried to do that when John was alive, John would have kicked his A$$."

And I agree with my friends: I'd watch Prince or Lenny perform over Paul any day. Of course, I would love to see Tom Petty with George Harrison performing again, but that will never happen again. John has been gone for a while. Last night, we were even talking about how great it would be if The Police reunited just for a Super Bowl performance, but I don't think the band could get along well enough to make that happen. As a matter of fact, as far as sheer overall entertainment, I'd watch Janet or Madonna over Paul. I'm NOT one of Paul's fans.

Being old is not so bad my friend. It's certainly better than the alternative lol I think as we get older, we start to appreciate the finer things in life. Such as, good wine, good food and good music. When I was younger, I didn't care what kind of wine I drank as long as I caught a buzz. I ate at McDonalds all the time and listened to crappy music. Today, I know a good bottle of wine from a cheap or average bottle. I wouldn't step foot in McDonalds and I hate crap music! wink

As for me - I'm old enough to get their mailings, which I throw out because they're a lobby that is pitting the interests of one generation (seniors) against those of another (my kids).

As for you - I'm thinking young guy with a good karmic sense of past lives (maybe Louie Jordan reincarnated?)

I'm a fan of him with the Beatles. NOT a fan of his solo material.

Lennon >>>>> McCartney

I have the same views about The Police and Sting. Great WITH the group, but solo..... confused

I thought it was fine -- did'nt try to be anything more than what it was, Paul McCartney playing his songs and Beatles tunes...No over-the-top theatrics, just the man playing his music....

Which is a very good thing. The more I think about his performance, the more I like it. I agree with the folks that are saying he sounded great. It's the best I've heard his voice sound in a long time. Though I can't say that I've ever thought he sounded bad, his vocals can be on the scratchy side during a live show. But for a man in his 60s singing tunes he wrote in his 20s? Awesome.

And the bottom line is that folks that actually paid to be there seemed quite thrilled at the performance.

hmm last years halftime was waaaaay better than this years, It had the thing that was missing from Pauls called high energy, the choreography was hot, there were a bunch of dancers, the stage was hot, thats what the halftime show is about, not some guy strumming on his guitar. Pauls music is nice but I don't think it qualifies as good halftime material. Most of my friends thought the halftime show last year was hott and thought this one was lacking
