Paul McCartney SB Performance

I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed by this. I was expecting more from him, I guess.

What did everyone else think about it?

I Really liked it. Shorter than I hoped but he sounded better than the dvd at MSG. Plus the crowd singing on hey jude was cool.

I thought it was pretty uneventful, but I'm guessing that's exactly what they wanted after last year's shenanigans. I think New England fans are the only people that are going to remember the winners of the 2004 SB, but everyone'll remember what happened during Half-Time. They don't want to be overshadowed again.

I thought it was fine. Performances at large-scale events like this almost always seem a little awkard and stilted, and this wasn't any different. However I thought he played well, and for a 63 year old he still has a fine, rich, melodic voice.

It wasn't that bad but wasn't great either. I would have taken Janet in a heatbeat.

lol Yes, that was a compliment. No fireworks, an average performance from Sir Paul.

boring, very boring....until he sung "live and let die". Boy, i'm telling you, i was ready to cut my wrists with those first few songs, but slowly came alive when he sung "live and let die" but overall the show was still boring. I went in the kitchen and got some ham biscuits...
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

not to disrespect Mr. McCartney, but i think a high school band marching around in formations would've been more interesting; plus, i kinda felt sorry for our younger generation -- i doubt they enjoyed it much either, "Paul who?" Where were the dancing girls?

I'm not sayin this cause he's one of my favorite artist...

but you can debate or bitch about what songs he sang, that really doesnt concern me, what was the biggest suprise for me is how great his vocals sounded, and how tight his band is.. they were dead on it.. if u would.

nod

I thought he did a great job. If you are a Beatles/McCartney fan, you couldn't ask for more. Everyone at the party I was at loved it.

I guess you could say that this years SB performance up against last years.. is about musicianship.. regardless if u liked it or not.. this year was real music..

that crap last year only settled arguments about the current state of music that lies in our charts today... it fuckin sucks..

I owe Paul McCartney an apology.
When I heard that he was going to be the half-time act my initial thought was...zzz

But while watching it I was pleasantly surprised. I was glad there weren't 1000 useless dancers twitching around the stage and no crotch-grabbing guest rapper. I guess if you grew up on MTV (which I didn't) you expect every act to put on some heavily choreographed Busby Berkeley type production (generally to mask their lack of talent). Outside of the fireworks, what I saw was a guy that wrote some cool tunes having a good time performing them.

Oh, and not once did the thought, "Is this live or is it *MEMOREX.", ever cross my mind.

*(maybe Seagate, Western Digital or Maxtor would have been a more contemporary reference)

I did enjoy the Black Eyed Peas (with EWF) during the pre-game concert. They have so much energy and their songs are so fun. You cant help but shake your ass!

I saw him in concert about in '93, and he opened the show with Drive My Car. I guess I was completely overwhelmed by seeing somebody whose music I grew up on - friggin' Drive My Car made me cry!
