I own 20 of those albums. 21 if you count 'The Best Of Morrissey' as part of 'ALL RECORDINGS'.

Actually, in scanning to see how many of these albums I actually own, I realized there are a couple entries I COMPLETELY agree with, and have actually decided to get rid of.
62. Green Day - Dookie
In the aftermath of Nirvana's demise, this band came along and made "alternative" rock fun again for the kids. I'd like to believe that Green Day's success led its fans to discover the The Buzzcocks and The Jam, the two bands from which Green Day unabashedly took its sound, but I suspect not. Dookie is a dated piece of pop culture detritus and belongs in the Museum of Teen Fads, not on your CD shelf. 81. The Presidents of the United States of America - Self-titled
Look, just because they're not selling anything with these jingles doesn't make them ARTISTS.

The imagery on this one is spot-on.
91. Sublime - Self-titled
"What I Got's" a frightening frat-house flashback every time I hear this fucking album. Gap khaki chinos, Abercrombie pull-overs, white collegiate ball caps, shivering sorority chicks, Lycra t-shirts, midriff, the Liquor Control Board, Jessica Phillips, cheese, the top bunk. Did I mention Everclear?

this dude should be removed from his album collection immediately, simply for the facts that:
a) he's listed quite a few good albums on his poopy list, and b) he sez to get rid of emancipation, but not pr? c'mon now--based on the kinda albums that are on the list ("typicals") i'm surprised that he chose this one. that list

I own 32 of these albums!
BTW, I agree with the reviewer and CinisterCee about Sublime - Sublime. Overplayed frat music. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Keep in mind that this isn't a single individual's list, but a conglomerate opinion.
"We assembled this list with the help of many discerning people whose musical dark nights of the soul resulted in selling trips to the used record store and even the destruction of offending albums." I thought the commentary was quite humorous. It would be interesting to see them put together a list of their One Hundred Albums You Should Add to Your Collection Immediately with the same irreverent justifications. Great site btw. Celine Dion - Colour of My Love

For the most part, I think the list is absolute bollocks (no, I'm not British, but I'm using the word anyway).
I agree with a few, such as Emancipation (I actually threw it away), The Joshua Tree (perhaps the most overrated album in HISTORY). What I find interesting is the seemingly prevailing attitude toward Sting. While I will concede that he has descended into MOR sludge in recent years, his first three solo albums were phenomenal. In fact, I did not truly discover the brilliance of The Police until after I checked out Sting's solo work. I was so impressed by ...Nothing Like The Sun that I decided to check out some Police records. Hmmm...I just counted. I only have four of the albums on this list anyway (and that includes Emancipation). [Edited 2/7/05 21:00pm]

Haven't read the list, but I did get rid of a lot of my collection recently. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

No argument there; I don't like that song either. I never understood its popularity. Fortunately, both Sting and The Police have far superior songs in their catalogues.

I see no Duran Duran titles on that list, thank heavens, or I'd have had to tear that guy a new hole....
I can live without Pink...Alicia Keys... and the No Doubt CD's... but you can't have my Rush or Prince ones. It's also nice to see someone that shares my disgust with U2! Diana Duranies rock on!!!!

Much of what he says is true & funny, but he refers less to the music than what the music inspires. The greatest popular music inspires more people, therefore it inspires more idiotic trends. Check this song out at:
