Elton still not over Madonna's miming from Q magazine
M: Actually, I was a bit nervous about meeting you, because of what you said about Madonna at the Q awards. Obviously, my live show isn't completely live either ... EJ: No, but it's a completely different thing, it's electronic music. I'm not going to get upset if I go and see Kraftwerk and it's not all completely live. I just think you shouldn't expect people to pay money to see someone sing live and then lip-synch. The official reason I heard was that she can't sing live while doing the full crab position. Well, don't do the fucking full crab position, then! Nobody's paid to come and see you do yoga! They've paid to hear you sing!

And whether Madonna mimed parts of her show or not, it doesn't matter. the whole show was not mimed, and the thing with Madonna concerts is that it's more than music. It's theatre, which she has been doing for over 15 years now.
It's not the typical rock show. It's not meant to suit everybody, but it suits her fans, which is what they expect of her. ELton, being jealous just because Madonna is a bigger gay icon than you and isn't a Vegas act is no reason to take your anger out on her.

Fans come to see Madonna, maybe not for the yoga moves, but for the show, the dancing, and to hear her sing a few songs live. Honestly, Madonna has NEVER been know for having a great voice, and there is nothing wrong with that. Elton and she are different types of performers. Elton is more of a vocalist/musician even though he has been know to wear flamboyant costumes. Madonna is a STAGE performer and first/foremost a musicvideo artist whose visual is nearly as important as her actual music. The bottom line is that NO, Madonna isn't gonna be able to compete with Elton as far as musicianship and vocal ability;however, Elton would never be able compete with Madonna as an overall stage, theatrical performer. I love Elton, but he is NOT being fair.

Off-topic but hey VoicesCarry, I like your Janet site. Do you ever visit any other Janet forums? I sometimes feel like I'm the only Prince fan on the Janet forums on which I'm a member. There are a few Prince fans, but not as many as I would expect. Anyway, your Janet site is really good. Has it already been listed as a site on some other boards coz I you want, I can post if for you where I can. [Edited 2/5/05 9:41am]

It's sort of a work in progress - I add to it whenever I get a chance (ie. when I'm not studying or working). I frequent Janet-Xone mostly, but I also post on Janet Junkie. It's more the older fans I find that are really into Prince (and you can find them, but it's hard to get Prince-related discussions going. A lot of fans would be interested in a Janet/Prince collabo, though). I've really only publicized my site on those forums, but quite a few collectors and fans know about it now, mainly for the discography. When the remixography is finished it will be the most complete and accurate on the web. If you'd like to list it on some other boards that would be great! [Edited 2/5/05 9:53am]

I'm a member of Janet's Friends, jj.com and just recently joined janetxone, much to my husband's dismay, coz I was so excited about Gil posting. I'm a huge fan of dance. However, Janet's Friends (formerly velvetworld?) and this site are my favorites. I'm gonna list your site on jj.com and the Janet's Friends site section.

I think elton is jealous cause madonna has more gay fans then him -bad joke- but why the fuck is elton hung up on madonna when there so many more people with less talent, people like britney and the rest. p.s The Bad tour was like vaudeville compared to dangerous, the dangerous tour was his peak...recognize.

i've Learne dto respect madonna and take her for what she is worth...
But E has got a point... I like to see a show as well as the next guy but, i came to hear you sing live to see you do Yoga... I'd rather take a yoga Class.. I say if you can't dance and sing, than don't dance and just sing

LORD all might she didn't lypsync the whole concert. She may have lypsynced NKM, but i have a copy of the Vogue screen shots which are actully her singing. That song minus the rap was live.
She has always sung live, and even when her voice was on the fritz she still sang live. and if the openin set was mimed it is still less than what MJ and JJ, do You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

I say if you can't dance and sing, than don't dance and just sing She literally did yoga for 20 seconds, to open the show, and during that time she wasn't even singing! And that was it, yoga wise for the whole show. Those who have actually seen the show unlike Elton, would know he is pretty fucked up in what he is saying. Those who agreed with Elton such as Brian May have never attended a madonna concert in their life, yet feel that they know madonna inside out. The comparison to Madonna and Britney is fucking sad.

With 21 songs out 25 sung completely live I got more than eye bargained 4... ...Your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart...

SHe seemed to have had more respect during the "ROL" era, and now it seems she's back at square one with people pissing all over her. People now view her as one of the young blonde pop tarts as opposed to a living legend which she should be.

There were many "passing-the-torch-from-old-whore-to-new-whore" comments when she did that ridiculous smooch at the VMA's. So not only did it basically undo all the respect she'd gained via her music, it made her appear "desperate" and "over". There is simply no comparison between Madonna and Britney music-wise. She opened the show by doing a headstand on the platform, it was her entrance. Where else was she doing yoga Sir Elton? That's like him saying no one wants to go to a concert to see Cher swing from a chandelire...

But now, out of all people she's kissing ass towards Britney and Christina and even Missy Elliot for godsake. She should just go back to being herself
