Hell yeah.

I actually just heard an interview w/ her on NPR about her new album...they played snippets of some of the songs and I was kind of digging it. I've never hated on her, nor have I been her biggest fan either, but I've caught myself downloading her a bit. I might have to check out Everlasting Love -- she remakes some other (dare I say) "dusties" too. She admits there is no way to top the classics, but from what I heard, she puts her on jazzy spin on them...if you like that sort of thing.

I bought this too. I love it. Vanessa is definitely more of a jazz/pop singer than the heavy r&b she did back then. But, I'm sure this album won't bring her back to the top of the music charts...and that's unfortunate; because it is a very cool album. Jazzy, a bit pop, with some r&b. One of the things I like about Vanessa's vocals is her annunciation of the words she sings. I think she showed respect to the songs she covered, and deserves some recognition.

Is it a re-make of 'Carl Carlton's "Everlasting Love"?

I haven't picked this up yet but I will. Vanessa's not a belter but she certainly adds her own style to songs. After seeing her on Broadway and a few live televised performances I've grown not to underestimate her abilities. I really like her annunciation too. She may not be flashy and singing about creepin' and ice but she's found a niche that seems to work for her. She's just a classy lady and there's not many of those left. Behold a lady! Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

No, Chaka Khan and Rufus' "Everlasting Love" from the 70s --- which is so much better than Carl Carlton's silly-ass song.

Harl you made my fuckin night
Watching Chaka's performance just about brought me to tears. She is my all time favorite female singer. I just don't think anyone can top that. When I hear her sing, I often think "is she real?". Truly gifted beyond belief 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

frankly, i never saw the fascination with this song and what makes such a varied roster of musicians (from U2 to Vaness Williams) want to cover it. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."
