Jam Of The Day: "I'm Ready" by Kano

This was one the baddest jams of the year 1980. The electronic voice, the music, and the whole works just sounded like something straight out of outer space.

My crazy ass should have bought it when it was in style but I never got around to it. A few years ago, a friend of mine burned me a copy of his 12 Inch. I remember seeing an album, or what looked to me at the time, to be an album. It had a cover with pictures of people dancing. I've searched the internet looking for an album but all I could find was the 12 Inch in numerous places. Was there ever an album that contained this song or was it just a 12 Inch that had a cover like an album? If it is on an album, how are the other tracks? Finess??? biggrin

Anyway, it was a straight up jam. Anyone else liking it?

woot! I bought this 12 back in the day( damn, I had style for a 10 year old, huh? wink ) ANyway, the b-side was Holly Dolly. Both of these songs were so far ahead of their time, man. AM radio used to rock stuff like this on the regular.

Killer track... hmmm reminds me I still don't have a copy of this song that isn't segueing into another song, or edited to HELL.

I would pay a nice sum of moolah to have this sinlge in any form, this was my absolute favorite song when it came out. Is the full 12" version available on a compolation CD anywhere?

I have it on CD a few places but it's usually part of a mix, or edited without the "Whoomp There It Is" part (lol most accurate way I could explain it)

Did it have the standard cover with the hole in the middle or did it have a picture on the cover? Finess has the promo copy so his would look different.

I've only seen it on a Thump Records "Old School" compilation, which I don't have. I don't know if it's the full version though.

It seems like it's a nice treat added to those party mix CDs they put together along with all the silly pop songs, uhhh. mad I would be reluctant to buy it like that.

It was the standard cover, although I kinda do remember a colorful pic with people dancing...

Yeah, that's what I figured. They got a lot of that stuff you don't see anywhere else! Jim, the owner, is a very nice guy and very helpful. If there's anything you can't find and want he might have it in his personal collection, and I'm sure he'll be glad to burn it for you.

Oh yeah, I like "It's A War" too. I have it on a Billboard 1980 Dance compilation. I was very surprised when I looked at the pictures, in the inside cover, that Kano was a white group.

I ordered Kano's Greatest Hits a few years ago from my local record store. They called me back a few weeks later and told me they didn't do business with that particular distributor. sad
