Stevie Nicks "Leather and Lace" & "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"

I remember when I was a kid, I really liked "Leather And Lace". I always dug Stevie Nicks anyway when she was in the Mac. I thought she was pretty more than anything. But besides the song "Tusk", after that, I kind of dropped off. Then "Leather And Lace" started getting airplay, and I really dug it. Pretty music. Plus, I always liked The Eagles, so Don Henley's vocals on it was a nice touch. Good combination. So, I went and bought the album "Bella Donna" and realized that "Stop Draggin My Heart Around" was on there too. I had heard this song with Tom Petty on the radio and more than that, seen the video. But, I guess for some reason, it didn't make any impact on me, even though I liked the song as well. It was through "Leather And Lace" that I realized just how cool Stevie was. Here she had two hit songs, singing with two different male vocalists, with totally different styles, off of the same album. It says something about Stevie as a vocalist and as an artist. Who here digs these two songs?

woot! Me! Me! Though I never heard that album when it was first released. I started buying from her second LP, apart from Fleetwood, that is.
Years later I bought the CD and I loved it.

That voice! And those harmonies... biggrin

Two great songs from a great album... ("Edge Of Seventeen" was the other hit single)....

I think she's at her best with FM's Lindsey Buckingham producing, tho...her hit's with him are some of her best.

As a Steve Nicks fan, I like both of her duets. However, I am a strong Tom Petty fans so I favor Stop Draggin My Heart Around more.

U should also listen 2 Run To You, another duet with Tom Petty, on Stevies second solo CD, The Wild Heart!!!

I LOVE Stevie Nicks!! I have all her solo works, even her Enchanted CD box set, and all of Fleetwood Macs material with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie!!

On The Wild Heart there is Stand Back, which has Prince playing keyboards and synths anonomously and even it is said that he even co-wrote the song or something!!

Also on the Enchanted Box Set, there is a rare song called Thousand Days which is about Prince so I read somewhere and floating around online there is a rare duet that she did with Prince called All Over You!!

She is absolutely amazing as a songwriter as well as a performer, although not so much now, as age hasnt treated her very kindly recently(personally I feel that she could do with a complete image makeover as those flowing black dresses and shawls dont do her any justice anymore for her age). The thing is, I would much rather listen 2 her than any of these young upstarts!!! nod nod

BELLADONNA is Stevie's best solo record - aside from the duets, put HOW STILL MY LOVE On repeat...that is one of her best songs ever.
