I can think of a million people that mean more to Black History Month than "Bayawnsay"! I guess they were trying to get a current famous face, but dag even Janet would have been a step up that's cool that you wrote a complaint. at least you're speaking your mind. it is pretty gross and sad that they put her there front and center. what is this world coming to?

All the musicians from the last 100 years & they pick Jimi & Beyonce.

Someone please explain why Beyonce Knowles is front and center on that collage. Don't get me wrong, I think that Beyonce is a talented and beautiful young lady, but there is absolutely no reason for her pic to be displayed so prominently on that banner, while MLK Jr and Frederick Douglas pics are off to the side. There have been so many black people that have been jailed, beaten, spit on, had dogs sicced on them, sprayed with water hoses and died for civil rights, but a pop artist that is mostly know for doing the booty bounce gets 'top billing' during black history month. If you are as disgusted as I and others are click here: HERE'S HOW TO CONTACT THEM!!! YOu made that or something. That can't be real! I'll give you Will Smith because was/is a huge African American action star, something I don't think even Denzel accomplished....but Beyonce right in the middle. If you're going to go for a diva, what about Diana Ross? Donna Summer? Tina FUCKING Turner! Laughable! I don't think Beyonce is bad, but when it comes to overhype and acclaim (say what you will about Madonna, when she was at her most popular, the press couldn't stand her), the media really needs to be ashamed!

Miss Melodie! Well, don't forget her ex-husband KRS-One. His philosophy of "edutainment" puts him right up there with scholars like W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington!

Update: Beyonce has been removed from the banner. Along with Will Smith, Colin Powell and Condilezza Rice.Looks like Nat King Cole,Malcolm X and Maya Angelou were added. I guess they just decided to remove all modern day people. I wonder how many complaints they got regarding Beyonce's supersized glamour pic being in the middle of that banner, [Edited 2/8/05 20:24pm]

theAudience said: Paul Robeson was the epitome of the 20th-century Renaissance man. He was an exceptional athlete, actor, singer, cultural scholar, author, and political activist. His talents made him a revered man of his time, yet his radical political beliefs all but erased him from popular history. Today, more than one hundred years after his birth, Robeson is just beginning to receive the credit he is due.

Beyonce was just put up there to attract the 99.9% of idiot moron kids who "learn" history (and actually believe it) from TV and movies instead of picking up a book, but what do you expect from a retarded generation that thinks being illiterate is cool and pick illiterate and ignorant manufactured ghetto monkeys like 50 cents and Snoop Doggy as a rolemodel...
