Well, this ought to be funny (re: Grammy "performances")

J.Lo, Anthony's Grammy Hookup

J.Lo and Marc Anthony are taking their act public.

The superstars, who tied the knot in a hush-hush ceremony last June but have yet to publicly acknowledge the union, will perform for the first time together at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced Wednesday. barf

No official word on what tune they have chosen for the duet, but it's rumored that they will team up for a song off one of two albums(!!!) Lopez plans to put out in the coming months. barfbarf

According to MTV News, Anthony and J.Lo initially collaborated on a Spanish-language disc, but that project was backburnered as the two finished additional tracks for her English-language release, Rebirth, set to hit stores March 1. One possible Grammy song is "You Got Me," an expression of the couple's amor for one another, according to producer Rodney Jenkins; "Escapmonos" off the soundtrack to Lopez's last flick, Shall We Dance?, is reportedly another candidate.

The latter song also appears on two of Anthony's albums, Amar Sin Mentiras and Vali La Pena, both of which are up for Grammys (news - web sites) this year for Best Latin Pop Album and Salsa/Merengue Album, respectively.

While Lopez is the bigger star of the two, it's her third husband who has the hardware. She is 0-for-2 in Grammy nominations, while he won the Grammy in 1998 for Best Tropical Latin Performance and also has a 2000 Latin Grammy for Best Song.

CBS is scheduled to broadcast the Grammys live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 13. Organizers hope that the lovebirds' combo translates into big ratings for the telecast and tops last year's opening smash pairing of Beyonce and Prince.

As gossiphounds gushed over the prospect of Lopez and Anthony canoodling on stage, the Recording Academy also announced Wednesday another potential show-stopper--a special all-star rendition of the Beatles' "Across the Universe" to benefit tsunami victims. The live performance, featuring the likes of Bono, Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones (news), Alicia Keys, Velvet Revolver and Brian Wilson, will be made available for download for 99 cents immediately afterward at iTunes Music Store. CBS.com will also offer exclusive video of the segment with proceeds from the downloads going to tsunami relief efforts.

Previously announced performers include U2, Green Day and Kanye West with Mavis Staples, John Legend and the Blind Boys of Alabama.

Additionally, Bonnie Raitt (news) and Billy Preston (news) will perform a special tribute to the late Ray Charles, while Tim McGraw, Gretchen Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dickie Betts and Elvin Bishop will join forces for a salute to Southern rock.

Among those tapped as presenters are Hoobastank, Aerosmith (news - web sites)'s Steven Tyler, bluegrass queen Alison Krauss, supermodel Tyra Banks (news), Ellen DeGeneres (news), Ludacris, Mark McGrath (news), Gary Sinise and John Travolta.

Queen Latifah will host and perform.

Marc is an incredible singer, but unfortunately,he's gonna lose all credibility if he starts doing duets with his non-singing "wife" disbelief

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he lose all credibility by marrying her?

Yes, I think he did.

"Best Tropical Latin Performance"

Hilarious.

It'll be good to see Mavis on stage though.

Nothing against either but seriously, is this what equals a musical event in our lifetime? This is just proof that there are very few real superstars in music anymore.
