Great cover! Peter Gabriel's first four album covers were all incredible! Especially the ones for 2 and 3, they were trippy, frightening, and evoked the style of music on the albums perfectly. It's too bad he got away from that with his later albums, the pictures just never reflected his work as well after Security. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Nothing really special about the design, but it's just so recognizable and and I love this album. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Frank Zappa should get a separate thread for his covers.
But just isolating some favorites from the 70s: 12 out of the approx 20 records he released in the 70s alone. Some "artists" don't output that much material in a lifetime. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm [Edited 1/30/05 15:53pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. And a special mention of the most garish album cover of any era, I think:

I remember seeing this Rolling Stones album in the record store back in the day and it had a real zipper. I wonder what's underneath if you unzip it. [Edited 1/30/05 19:38pm] Andy is a four letter word.

[Edited 1/30/05 19:38pm] Actually, a pink balloon (deflated) was supposedly included under the zipper in the original pressings (or maybe that's what Warhol wanted). By the time I got my copy, there was only a photo of a stiffie inside some BVDs. [Edited 1/31/05 8:05am] *****************************************

The 70's Jazz album covers for CTI(ftrng. Pete Turner's photographs!), and Columbia, Blue Note, etc., were wild!
