Old R&B Songs That Include A "Rap" In the 1970s and even the early 1980s, (maybe even the 1960s) a lot of R&B songs included a "rap". This is not "rap" as we know it today, this is a portion of the song where the artist breaks the song down and talks to the listeners.
A few off the top of my head to get us started are: Tonight Is The Night - Betty Wright If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want To Be Right - Millie Jackson Cause I Love You - Lenny Williams Temptation - Prince Wildflower (Live) - The O'Jays I Call Your Name - Switch [Edited 2/1/05 1:58am] Andy is a four letter word.

There are some Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes songs with a "rap" but I can't think of the name of them. On one of them, he tells his woman that he just got a job and he hit the lottery. Andy is a four letter word.
