Rebbie Jackson 'the most talented/sane of the bunch?

Okay enuff MJ threads for the day smile Rebbie, with maybe the exception of Marlon and Jackie is the most unknown Jackson of the bunch. She stays away from drama and never comments on MJ's business. I've read reviews on her over the years, and its usually stated that she has the best Jackson voice of them all. Her only big hit of course was Centepiede which MJ produced. ANy thoughts from the org on her? she's the oldest jackson I think shes around 54/55. Has some hot daughters and her son Auggie (austin brown) just signed a record deal and is rumored to be a talented as his uncle. Lets just hope he lasts longer that his cousins 3T.

I have her last album "Yours Faithfully" (from 1998). She's certainly better than LaToya (not saying much).

Michael produced the whole thing. The best track was the one he wrote and had vocals on.

There's your answer.

She's a better vocalist than both Janet and LaToya. She just needed better songs. With the exception of "Centipede",her singles were all less-than-thrilling.

Rebbie definitely has the better voice of the sisters but never had prime material. The songs by her brother were usually the best on her CDs. I remember her last appearance on BET a few years ago and she looked amazing.

Centipede is one of the campiest songs and videos ever. I love it to pieces. I can't say that I agree that Rebbie has a particularly good voice though. What makes it a good song is the production and the backing vocals by MJ and Martha Wash. Martha Wash couldn't even get a break back then - Rebbie was lip synching her part! lol

Centipede rocks! How 'bout that line at the end where Rebbie is sorta 'roarin' right before she says, That centipede!? Janet couldn't pull that off. lol She has a decent voice that's stronger in comparison to her sisters. Outside of Centipede there were a few songs where you can hear that she's got the stronger chops.

you can really tell MJ's Prince influence with his production of this song.

"MJ wants to emulate Prince"...

lol

Whatever. Typical fanatics. The song "Centipede" came out in 1984, and in that time frame I don't recall ever hearing a similar song produced by Prince yet.

Come on now you could have given Centipede to Vanity or Apollonia and it would make total sense.

"Centipede" would have sucked if Vanity or Apollonia was singing it.

Rebbie did an excellent job, one of my favorite MJ compositions.

Notably, her remake of "I Feel For You" came out in 1984...the same year that Chaka released her own version! lol

In addition,LaToya released an album in 1984 that featured a remake of Prince's "Private Joy".

Damn, I never knew that Martha worked with Rebbie. Martha is truly a bad girl and never gets her due credit.

Go Martha!

All these years I thought those strong vocals towards the end of that song belonged to Rebbie!!!
