GET OFF by FOXY!

What a dancefloor classic.

I'm not sure, but I believe that this song brought the "ooh ooh ooh ooh" straight up the charts. They had one other really lame song, so this would be their one hit.

BUT what a hit! The breakdown is fabulous. The beat infectious, the bass led the way. You just can't hate this song.

Surely you're not referring to their excellent 1978 hit "Hot Number"? confuse

written by "Peter brown" ( dance wit me,Crank it up, they only come out at night) was a dancefloor staple.. the one record that started that "oowwa owwa" chant was Michael Zaeger's 1977 single "Lets all chant" on Private stock records.

Hot number the follow up was just as Big as Get off.. 2 great disco cuts from the TK vault... Thank God for Henry Stone smile

biggrin Their bandleader once related a story about that "oowa, oowa" thing. When they were an unknown band in Florida, playing in one particular club, they would start doing that chant during one of their songs...the crowd loved it, but the club manager couldn't stand that chant---drove him crazy!! He told them that the next time they did that "oowah-oowah" crap, he was going to unplug 'em and throw their shit out into the street. Sure enough, the very next night, they got right back up there and did the chant, and sure enough, they got their shit thrown out into the street, lol !! But a friend of theirs got them to chance to record at TK studios, and they decided to make sure to put that chant on the recording, as an act of defiance..."Get Off" ensued...

They were kinda foxy too...okay one of 'em was. "Hot Number" was hot! I almost forgot about Peter Brown's "Crank It Up." "Do You Wanna Get Funky w/Me" is one of my favorite songs ever!!!

One of my favorite disco songs of all time. The bass line is cold blooded. The album I thought was sorry as hell, but "Get Off" is excellent. "Hot Number" is cool, but it's not up to par with "Get Off".

Gotta love some 'Get Off,' yeah. 'Let's All Chant' was a blast . .when we were tykes, me and my little sister used to laugh cause we thought the chorus was 'My body! my body! Everybody wants my body!!'

I spun both in a row at her wedding a couple years back. For old times.

yeah. I owned the 12-inch of Hot Number and played it to death, maybe that's why i'm not so hot about that one.

"Get Off" and "Hot Number" are two of the funkiest disco jams ever!.Unfortunately,I've heard some other singles by Foxy that left alot to be desired ("Sex Symbol").

Yeah,y'all ain't lyin' about these 2 jams. They instantly make you "get off". I saw them in concert once when I was very, very young and I thought Ish Ledesma was very Prince-like. He had these red boots on and green tights..he was throwing his hair around and stuff. He is alao the mastermind behind The Cover Girls,if my memory serves. I think he wrote another hit song for another dance duo and I cannot reember the name right now.

I know what you mean. The very first time I ever saw Prince was on "American Bandstand". I had seen Foxy on there about a year earlier and the guy had a similar hairstyle and was slinging it. When I saw Prince on the show about a year later, for a minute, I wondered if it was the same guy. lol
