Not only did I see him perform a few times, a friend and I met him on the street one afternoon prior to a performance he was doing that evening at The Cafe Au Go Go in The Village. I actually got to speak to him for a moment and shake his hand. He was extremely cordial to my partner and I. Btw, he's got a song called Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)... ...First Rays of the New Rising Sun Maybe you'd want to adopt it as your theme music. It really is a shame that he's not more well-known than he is, especially considering the tons of people he's influenced. He influenced the Rolling Stones for crying out loud. And how many of their contemporaries (especially white ones) can lay claim to that? I'd have died to see him. Solo, Flying Burrito Brothers, Byrds, International Submarine Band. Whatever. The closest photo would be this one... ...substituting a darker multi-colored, shirt similar to the "eye" shirt (definitely "wasn't from the men's department"), burgundy crushed-velvet bell bottomed pants and black boots. He was a probably just a few inches taller than me at the time (though it seemed like more). The way I remember it, I kept it together externally but on the inside I was like a friggin' school girl at a Beatles concert. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I am in complete agreement. I wish someone would do a good biopic about Parsons and get his name out there again. There was a movie released last year, "Grand Theft Parsons," about the infamous story (to Parsons fans) surrounding his death and the theft of his body, starring Johnny Knoxville. I have it in my NetFlix queue now. In fact, today, I purchased tickets to the 6th Annual Sleepless Nights Gram Parsons Tribute concert at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall on March 5. I have gone the last two years and it is a blast. http://www.musichallsf.co...30505.html I can't wait for this year's show. BTW - I love the scene in Almost Famous when the William Miller character is walking through the hall of the Riot Hyatt on the Sunset Strip looking for Stillwater's suite and looks into a hotel room with the door open. Sitting on the bed with a guitar is an actor portraying Parsons, who is singing with an actress portraying Emmylou Harris. The best part is there are no words exchanged, just a cenimatic tip of the hat to this great talent. [Edited 2/4/05 18:44pm] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Which really surprised me, considering how much I hate Johnny Knoxville. He shocked me as an actor - very good. And the dude who played the hippie was hysterical. He nailed it. Speaking of nailing, I'd nail Christina Applegate. She does a good job of the crazy ex. I have not seen "Almost Famous." Last years Gram Parsons tribute concert was on PPV not long ago, but it was a little too rich for my blood. I'll wait for it to come out on DVD and pick it up. It's a jungle out there.
