I saw that tour too. I don't think REM opened the show I saw (Capital Centre, Largo/Landover MD), but I can't remember who did.

biggrin lol OMG!! They Did!! That's the show I saw, Capital Centre, in Landover, MD!! lol

Your kidding me! I had no idea REM was on that show. I was oblivious, maybe didn't even see them open. The first time (I thought) I saw REM was the Life's Rich Pageant Tour at DAR Hall in DC (I want to say '87). That is too funny.

gloating that i saw the ramones more than 13 times between 1988 and 1994
would be inappropriate...
so i will concur that i too would've loved to have seen the smiths...

I was only about 12 years old, but I clearly remember Freddie Mercury prancing about the stage and I got a lot out of it.

Actually, one interesting player I got to see before he checked out was Jaco Pastorius, back in '86 (in a trio with Hiram Bullock and Kenwood Dennard) at Blues Alley in DC. In my naivete, I approached him before the show, and he answered some questions about his Fretless/fretted bass playing, and he actually gave me two autographs, and it was a great show....I didn't find out until later that it was right in the middle of his downward spiral, and that in the weeks before or after that he'd either not shown up to gigs or showed up drunk, occcasionaly cursing at the band and the audience!...Man, there's no way I would've approached him If I had known .....I could've had a Much different experience eek ....he coulda' taken my head off!

These two I was able to see -- incredible shows! Same year for both, too...1983.

We really need that time machine. This is truly an incredible list of performers here...and I missed most of them. sad
