Cree Summer Album - Street Faerie

So, I just picked up this album b/c it was recommended somewhere on this site.. anyways, I knew Lenny produced it, but I was surprised to see V. Hunt and T. Ruffin as co-writers on the tracks! Does anyone know if this is the very same Tory Ruffin who now plays with The Time?

Pretty good album, btw, once I got used to her voice.

More than likely it is him...Yo know we 'colored' people like to stick together. That is a great record. The first time I heard it I wasn't feeling it for the same reason, her voice. That kind of throws you off until you get used to it. Once that happens it's over...I wore that cd out. Everyone I played it for loved it also...It was sad though because they (Sony) dropped her after like 3 months giving the record no chance of success whatsoever. Check out Womb Amnesia-Subject To Change (I can't recall which is the group's name or which is the title) It was the band she was in before her solo record, which is also good. One of the songs from that album ended up on Street Faierie, I just can't recall at this time which one it is...But YES, definately a recommended release.

Peace, Serveitupfrankie*

I bought it without ever hearing a track and loved it. To this day it is one of my favorite albums ever altho that may be because I was so pleasantly surprised after not knowing what to expect. It's got a funky rockish folky thing happening. Definitely a winner. Just thinking about the chorus and guitar on Deliciously Down reminds me to update me iPod. music

Yeah it is both.... she's got a strong voice, alot of Lenny influence (the music, and even a duet!!) but she makes the album really GREAT!

Love that! Entirely true.

You know, she actually has quite a good voice. She reminded me of Nelly Furtado - music and voice. Voice, in the sense that she has a voice that can be really annoying (I remember thinking her speaking voice on "Different World" was so grating).. or like a Gwen. But she really can sing. The music is kind of rock-r&b-pop.. At first listen, I liked it. but it took halfway through the album to adjust to her voice. Second time through, I've already had two separate songs on repeat for 30 minutes each (my bus ride home) -- her duet with Lenny and track 9 ... smile Btw, it was only $10 on amazon.com.

Great Great album....was completley overlooked save for the Lenny link. 'Mean Sleep' got a lot of play in places but the album never took off.....but highly recommended to orgers!
