I DIDN'T GET CREAM TICKETS!!!! Just using this thread to vent my frustration and disappointment that I didn't manage to get tickets to the Cream reunion.
For anyone who cares, or didn't know, Cream (one of Eric Clapton's early bands, and a kickass one at that) are getting together for four concerts in May at the Royal Albert Hall, where they haven't played since 1968. The last time all three members got together and played was in the ealry 90's when they were inducted into the RRHOF. I have been planning on getting tickets and flying to London since I first heard about it in October. Tickets went on sale this morning at ten (CET time) and I sat at the computer for FOUR HOURS trying to get online and get tix, with 3 internet pages open! I even had other people on their computers doing the same and helping me out, but they couldn't get through either. The site was flooded with thousands of people trying for tickets. What was most frustrating is that I would get as far as almost being able to select tickets, and then I would click to go further, and the screen would go vlack and say "This site is too busy. Try again later." So you would have to start all over again! The tickets were supposed to be going for 50, 75, and 125 POUNDS. I was prepared to pay 50 pounds, and maybe even 75, but I couldn't get through for ANYTHING! And then it was sold out. I actually cried when I realized I couldn't go. For real. I had just been planning this for so long, and was SO SURE I'd find a way. grrrr Anyway, the craziest thing about it is that now they're selling tickets on Ebay (the damn people who bought tons of them only to sell them at jacked up prices) for the cheapest being $500 and going up to $2,000!!! I mean, maybe if Hendrix came back from the dead and decided to book some gigs, I might consider those prices. Cream are one of my favorite bands though and now I'm just depressed about it. Long rant over. Sorry. Just had to talk about it. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Sorry to hear that. "F" e-bay.

Cool. The bottom right b&w pic (shiny suit jacket & LP with Bigsby tremelo) is from Cream's official debut at the Windsor Blues Festival in '66. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. with that much demand, is there a chance that they will extend it beyond the original four dates? " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

Do they not have ticket brokers or scalpers in England? It costs extra but at least you have the tickets in your hand.

Seriously, although they should reserve a special place in hell for scalpers, $500 to see Cream does not sound that bad to me, given face value ticket prices these days. When I heard about that show, I was drooling. Sorry to hear you struck out. It's not over yet, however. You still have time. Maybe there's some way you'll be able to go. 4 u

[Edited 1/31/05 23:39pm] Yeah, well I see tix on Ebay now (the ones that originally cost 50 pounds which means that there's restricted viewing) going for 400 POUNDS. Not dollars, but pounds. And if you actually want GOOD seats, they are going for around 700 to 900 pounds now. Well, I'm kind of hoping that will be the case, but Ginger Baker has some major bone deteriorating condition, and Jack Bruce has a failing liver. So I doubt they'd even have the energy to do more.
