Me too. I think I only gave it one listen. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Well, I just gave it another try the other day.
Still not feelin' it. I just dig melodies too much, man. And that mucousy delivery makes me wanna clear his throat for him.

I had the same trouble with this album when it first came out. All his albums up to that point were my absolute favorites when they were released. I thought each of them were perfect in their own way. I was expecting to be blown away by AWDF. But it fell under the '98 curse for me. Nearly every album that year from an alternative act that I liked, I couldn't get into. Since then I've cracked all of them, but in some cases it took me years. Tricky's was the first one I "got". It only took about a month. Now I love it. It's just so gnarled, difficult and troubling. All the smoothness and beauty of his earlier work was sucked out of it. I've heard that he blames the mood of that one on some of the medication he was on at the time. Can't really remember the details. If you wanna make a mix disc, include the b-sides: Anti Histamine, Time, 360 Degrees, Taxi (white boy), and Peyote Sings. They're all great. The remix of Mellow is killer too.
