1. First Madonna album you purchased or were given?

I was given all of her albums on tape from my childhood best friend. The first album I sorta purchased was Like A Prayer on cd, December of '89. I was having my tonsils out and my parents told me to pick something for myself as a get well present. That was it! I guess that's not really purchasing, but since it was my choice, it felt like it anyway.

2. First video you remember seeing; and which is your favourite to date?

I think Like A Virgin. I had such a fowl mouth as a kid. My friends and I were always joking about her fucking that lion man.

My favorite will probably always be Like A Prayer, cuz that's the one that hooked me as a fan. I always liked her, but that was what got me collecting. It's not her best looking video by a long shot, but how she looks and the content is unbeatable.

3. Have you ever seen her in concert; which tours and how many times?

Yes, twice. Both times pretty profound. I was lucky enough to catch her on the Girlyshow tour which I just recently found out was a very limited affair. I snuck out that night under the pretense of studying for a major science project. And for the Drowned World tour, I totally scored with front row seats the night of the HBO taping in her hometown (and mine). My brother and I are on the DVD.

4. Favourite movie?

I've liked several. Even the horrible ones I get some enjoyment out of. My fave is probably Desperately Seeking Susan. Or a Certain Sacrifice.

5. Favourite album?

A toss-up between Erotica, Ray of Light and American Life. I love them all for completely different reasons.

6. Favourite song?

Substitute For Love gets the most love. Nothing Fails, Like A Prayer, Deeper & Deeper, I Want You, Sanctuary, Justify My Love, Secret Garden, Gone, Angel, The Look Of Love and Power Of Goodbye are all strong contenders.

7. Best scandal or controversial moment?

Dedicating her album to the pope was pretty good. All her nudes from around '90 til '93 are fabulous. Can't decide.

Sure, why not.

The packaging on the Immaculate Collection is killer. The timing was right too. I wish it had all her singles up to that point though. If I was in charge, I would've released her first one in '88 on a year off. There seems to be a break in sound there too. The second I would've done after Bedtime Stories instead of Something To Remember (although I do love that collection). The 3rd I'd have out now to sum up her electronic phase and to make up for a flop album. GHV2 is crap.

13. Next album: Dance? Electronica? Straight foward pop?

Either full on pop-rock or a return to r+b. Anything's cool though. I'm sure I'll like it no matter what style she chooses.

Anyone who's made a career out of "re-inventing" themselves. I think a lot of artists try to be as image-conscious and sexually provocative as her, but no one really pulls it off anymore.

Mads been on a quest since at least 92/93 to get past America's agist attitude espeically towards women. I remember an interview from the era, she was wearing a blue beret, where she was commentnig how at at 35 people wanted her to curl up and wither away and cover up. She stated in the interview that a women shouldn't be considered older and ugly just because she hits a certain number. 12 years later she is still going and still proving that women in their 40s can be just as sexy as younger women.

I think it's a pruely American way of thinking that women get old but men and keep playing that heartthrob and get the girl in her 20s when he is 60+.
