Heyday by The Church - this was a good one, actually - their early albums were erratic and their later albums were a little too pretentious for my tastes, but they found a nice balance on this record.

No need to even ask for redemption. smile I see nothing wrong with it. I would have loved it when it came out (I was 15-years-old). And I think I'm getting my Tom Cruise soundtracks mixed up. I'm too lazy to consult allmusic right now, and am thinking maybe Iko Iko was on the Rainman soundtrack.

I had vinyl for years and after that I bought cassettes because CD players were so damned expensive back in the day. The first CD I ever bought was Prince's prince.

I think Ginuwine "100%" when I was like 12 and I thought Ginuwine was finest thing on earth. Now I look at him and say "eww, he's so old"
Doesn't it make you smile when you realize no one was there to see the stupid thing you just did?

This was the first CD.
The MUTE version.

If by CD, you meant "album", then it was Prince's "PARADE"

the first one was actually a compilation with various 70s & 80s soul classics... but the first "proper" CD release I bought was Shakatak "Manic & Cool" (1988)

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Sting -- Dream of the Blue Turtles, back when the record store only had one teeny tiny row of CD's. People freaked out when I told them I had bought a CD player.
