John Mellencamp and the Hall Of Fame

Well obviously this post is going to be about "how the hell did Mellencamp miss again", its not so much that he isnt in there, because the HALL is flawed like that anyway, I mean CHICAGO isnt in yet, but the fact that Last year ZZ TOP beat out MELLENCAMP and now this year the PRETENDERS did. Now It really doesnt matter U're opinion on Mellencamp, whether u love him or hate him, I Love him, mainly because I feel since 1983's UH-HUH record, John is one of the Strongest ALBUM artists out there, including 1993's HUMAN WHEELS which is one of my favorite albums of the 90's, and ever. But I think we can agree that ZZ TOP and the Pretenders (who i actually like a little), are light years from Mellencamp. The hall isnt about HITS obviously, but I always thought it was about influence on a generation, HELLO the 80's FARM AID and all that stuff. What was ZZ's influence, a RED CAR and three HOT girls, Rap music does that all the time.

Clearly MELLENCAMP's attitude about this is the best, as usual he has the "i dont give a shit attitude", but his quote has been "I know I will be let in one day when they run out of people", well guess what, they are almost out of people.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
