ROCK ROOTING OPENLY FOR JAMIE: Host plans to go off if Foxx doesn’t win.

*Who says Oscar hosts can’t be biased? Chris Rock has already put it out there that he will have plenty to say during the live Academy Awards telecast on Feb. 27 if Jamie Foxx doesn’t win for Best Actor.

Even though the nominations won’t be announced until tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn, Rock considers the Golden Globe and People’s Choice winner an obvious nominee, and is already looking forward to the Oscar winner’s circle, which had better contain the “Ray” star – Rock warns.

“I am rooting for Jamie, and if he doesn’t win, I’m going to talk about it on the show,” the comedian told the “New York Times.”

i do not like that Rock is doing this....its taking away from the fact that Foxx's performance earned all the recognition he has recieved (and will recieve).....now your gonna have some nutt cases saying the only reason he won is because Rock made a fit and threatened...

I like Chris Rock. He's one of my favorite comedians. I don't think the Oscar stage is the place to announce your favorites, but that's what they get for giving him the job.

ummm...let what all out? that a black actor can only win an order off the backs of all the other black actors that preceeded him?

that a black actor cant win on talent enough? that people have to add baggage?

im sorry but Rock's comments were completely inappropriate, childish and unneccessary..he is tainting what already is the inevitable, that Foxx is going to win.....

so why make an issue? real smart there Rock...real smart.

well thanks for helping me better understand your position...

so tell me, what part of my statement bores you? the part about Foxx going to win without Foxx's unnecessary rant? the fact that Foxx is a talented actor (who just happens to be black)? help me here...or would you rather people not respond to your posts in a public forum such as this? razz

YES!

I do wish that Rock should vent about this OPENLY! right or wrong, childish or mature.

I'm not speaking for anybody else, but I know I would be upset if Jamie lost over anybody,,,call it biased if you want to.

Yeah, I know it WON'T take anything from him if he lost, but at least I hope someone will voice their frustration about it. I know he won't!

Thats how I feel about it, basicaly!

I'll be more upset if Uma Thurman doesn't get a best actress nod for the "Kill Bill" series. She played the hell out of that role, and I can see no other actress pulling it off the way she did.

nod I feel the same way about both Jamie and Uma - I want them each nominated, but they're not my first choice to win.

Uma's my first choice actress? Who's yours?

I would be very happy if Zyang Ziyi gets a nod too for "House Of Flying Daggers".

i have yet to see ray but i have no doubt the performance was great...everybody's been raving about it since day one. my question to you is have you seen all of the other possible nominees' films?

I'm torn between Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby and Imelda Staunton for Vera Drake. They were both superb. Ziyi was excellent, but I think she's a real long shot.

but shouldnt this energy be held until he actually looses? lol

and thats my issue with Rock (and others..hey, were are all them folks who said Foxx wasnt going to win the Golden Globe?)...Foxx has been winning and will continue to win...unless Rock keeps on going on and on...like cynickill said, the academy doesnt take kindly to overt campaigning or bullying....Miramax tried this with Scorsessi and Gangs of New York...it actually hurt his chances at a Best Director win (im not saying Best Picture cause to many people were bored by it..but he did have a good chance at the director title)...

and you know what folks? Where was Chris Rock the year Eve's Bayou was completely ignored by the Academy? Roger Ebert declared it the best film of the year...and it got nothing..thats an injustice.....Foxx keeps collecting award after award.....he didnt need this type of help from Rock...

I was amazed when they announced Chris as the host of the Oscars, considering his witty repartee he's too controversial for the skittish Oscars. And what is really wrong with him rallying for Jamie, Chris is opinionated, that's his job. The world won't end if Jaime is not nominated or is going to win, The AA will survive regardless of how much we bash them.

Surely you don't mean me. I didn't say he wouldn't win a Golden Globe. wink
And Ebert was the only critic, besides me that is smile, who declared Eve's Bayou to be the best picture of the year in 1997. It was superb but too small a release to gather much momentum. It's a shame really, because when it came to award time that year, my two faves - Ice Storm and Eve's Bayou - were pretty much ignored. C'est la vie. I know it was a great film.

but that is the type of film (and performance) that the african community needs to start supporting...Don Cheadle in Hotel Rwanda needs all the support he can get right now...Ditto Regina King's powerful performance in Ray (which sadly has been ignored by all)...Foxx goes for the one person who need the help? lol

Where was Foxx last year when Chiwetel Ejiofor (Dirty Pretty Things) gave the best male performance of the year and was ignored by everyone?

Are you getting Foxx and Rock mixed up?

So because he's black Chris Rock should support other black actors to win an Oscar? Perhaps Chris Rock thinks that Foxx deserves the award based on his performance (along with just about everyone else)?
