Damn! Stevie turned Beck out?! I know Stevie could burn, but Beck I thought was always more original. Stevie was a bit too Hendrixy for me, bit too hard off of Jimi, but I liked him.

Yeah a lot of people think of Stevie in that regard due to his covers of many Hendrix tunes, but in reality Stevie's sound is heavily influenced by Texas blues more than anything. When it came down to digging deep within at a live concert, Stevie was by far more in touch with his soul than Beck was. True Beck's style is more unique and original, but I'll take soul anyday.

i got that cd to.Branford Marsalis adds alot of sweetness to this version. first got the album when it was released in 1990 i believe and i lost it when we moved (i was pissed). i didn't know that jimi made the original version(i was still discovering what kinds of music i liked and didn't like) til i read the back of the credits. actually stings cover of little wing is what made me a fan of jimi. There's still music i haven't heard by hendrix and its always exciting to hear something i never heard before.

Isel

This may have already been posted, but it is included on Stevie's cd The Sky is Crying, released after his Family Style cd collaboration with his brother Jimmy.
