Vespertine

I forgot how much this album means to me. While completing my Björk remix collection, I bumped into many a Vespertine remixed song, but it was the Opiate Version of Aurora that made me play the album again...for the first time in ages.

It grabs my soul at hello. I am sitting here, listening to Hidden Place fading into Cocoon. That first line....

who would have known : that a boy like him
would have entered me lightly restoring my blisses

The intimicy that she shares makes my skin crawl. And to make it a single just makes me love her more.

sigh

I am mushy for Björk. mushy

I've alwaysd love "Pagan Poetry" and "An Echo, A Stain".
Really, that whole album is beautiful. Very unified and cohesive. (you could also say it's very homogenic smile) .

I got my copy of "Vespertine" the day it was released but the album
didn't really "klick" for me until last summer.

Now I love it beyond words. And after I was overwhelmed by the vox
on "Medulla" I went running back to "Vespertine" only to find her
more kind, warm and surrounding than ever before.

"Cocoon" and "It's Not Up To You" have never sounded so good as they
do to me right now. They are beyond mere music for me

love

I'm also a sucker for the way the fading sonics of "Undo" and then
"Pagan Poetry" all build up to the short but climaxing "Frosti"...
which then segues into "Aurora"

music

Now I just need to replace my lost copy of "Selma Songs" because if
I recall correct there were some amazing "pre-vespertine" songs on
there. Like "Scatterheart" which is just an orgasm of music and of
breath poured into a song. I neeeeed to listen to that again.

Damn you for feeding my Björk obsession again

Bjork has not yet released an album that I didn't immediately love.

VESPERTINE was no different, but I was taken aback by how subtly seductive it was compared to her previous stuff. Two points eventually, literally drove me to tears: 1) The string progression of Unison; and 2) this passage...

Aurora
Goddess sparkle
A mountain shade
Suggests your shape
I tumbled down
On my knees
Fill the mouth
With snow

The way it melts
I wish
To melt
Into you

sigh

I'm getting the chills thinking about this specific passage...the song brings me to tears.

Vespertine is an emotional masterpiece and a perfect winter album.

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES.

The 1st Björk album that didn't click with me..I felt
she kinda over conceptualized the whole thing..But It's
still rather gorgeous.
