Speaking of Funkadelic,,,

Notice how Jesse Jackson's "Vibes" sounds so similar to "I Wanna Know If It's Good To You?"(from Free You Mind,,,).

I swear I could hear ALOT of Eddie Hazel in Jesse Jackson's guitar riffs from his songs "Vibes".

Anybody else think so?

OK you knowledgable funkateers, at what part in "Maggot Brain" did Eddie blow one of the speakers in his guitar cabinet during the recording? Give me minute and seconds.

A live version of Maggot Brain can be heard here:
http://homepage.mac.com/r...560817513/

Along with an interesting general comment...

"While there is a lot of great black music out there from the past and the present, it's depressing that the electric guitar is no longer part of the black musical landscape when black musicians were so integral to the sound of the instrument. (And no I don't count Lenny Kravitz or the "cute" Jimi Hendrix/Sly Stone wanna-be as I call him smile"

hmmm Wonder who's being referred to here?

There is also a good live version of "Maggot Brain" included in the "One Nation" album...however I believe that one is performed by Hazel's successor,Micheal Hampton.

Good lp! Check out all the Westbound releases. Those are the greatest Funkadelic lps. My fave is Let's Take It to The Stage and America Eats It's Young.

Only thing that will blow your mind is the footage of a 1968 show that will be released. I've seen it and it is the bomb!! The original Funkadelic was wild and very psycdelic.

Jessie Jackson?

In the liner notes to Jesse Johnsons greatest hits it quotes Jesse saying that he got the guitar line for vibe from I want to know if its good to you,and that he just changed it up a little, it also says at the very beginning of the booklet that Eddie Hazel was his favorite guitarist.

Yes, sir. Let me take it one more step. I always thought Jessie bit the title from Funkadelic's "I Want To Know If It's Good To You" for his side project, Da'Krash's song "Wasn't I Good To Ya".
