PATTIE LABELLLE - she was on stage for a little over an hr... instead of singing, she spent most of the time talking with people she knew.... her menopause.... she didn't even have a decent encore..... i sooo wanted to see her in concert, because i had seen a couple of her live show on PBS and she seem great when she performed live....

-----
Oh cut Patti some slack she going thru her menopause and since apolized for those concerts.

jill scott and rachelle farell.---i'm sorry...i just don't get it. i fell asleep on both of them twice...i figured i was being harsh and overly-critical because they were just standing there singing...not doing splits, playing the piano, jumping off speakers, strumming the geetar..nuthin but just standing there...and all these people in the audience were going ape shit over a "live band" playing...i'm like...this shit is boring confused

I do know about Rachelle but Jill has a kick-ass band and people were on their feet the whole show when I saw her. Unfortunatly, people so seldom see a live band they do have a tendency to go ape shit. (LOL)

The "kiss" tour??? Do you even know what you are talking about??? Maybe you shouldn't get to have a Prince avatar/icon if you are gonna make statements like that. It was probably the "Parade" tour. If you didn't enjoy yourself at that show what are you doing here now?

Don't get your thongs in a bunch, homey. That's why I included "???" It could've been the "Parade" tour. It was years ago. Anyway, is it inconceivable to be a little disappointed because Prince screwed up? neutral

Thanks Anxiety!
thumbs up!

I think everybody on this board has seen the Hit and Run 86 Detroit show and we all know Prince was kicking ass at that time. Kiss is on that tape but it is not that great of live song so you did not miss anything.

Which performances were the most disappointing ever? Concerts that you looked forward to but were not as good as you thought they would be?

For me:

1. Bob Dylan, last year (by far the worst disappointment ever, I couldn't understand a word he was singing, didn't recognize one song ! Originality ok, but this was way too much ! Just an old fart, this Bob.)
2. Manu Chao
3. Ben Harper

Al B Sure. I have never seen so many people go to the bathroom and getting drinks at one time at a concert in my life. The absolute worst performance I have ever saw live.

I would say that there are a couple of shows that I saw that were disappointing, and both of these shows were radio-sponsored. The first one was back on New Year's Eve, 1994, which was supposed to feature Keith Sweat, Blackstreet, Silk, and Aaliyah. It opened up with some local singer who wanted to be the next R. Kelly, and all I remember about him was that he was bumping and grinding the floor and looking utterly ridiculous. Then Aalyiah came on, but she sounded as young and inexperienced as she was for that time, which was when she first came out. Then after about an hour's wait, Silk came on and performed for about 30 minutes, and I have to admit, they were quite entertaining. Unfortunately, it was about another two hours before Blackstreet came on, and by then, half of the crowd had left, and the rest of the crowd was quite pissed. By this time, it was about 2:30 am, and Keith Sweat never went on stage. The concert venue supposedly was giving out refunds by about 3:30 am, but I was long one by this time and quite pissed.

The most recent show I went to that I thought was disappointing was a Clear Channel-sponsored "love jam" for Valentine's Day. This concert featured Ms. Alicia Keys, as well as Teena Marie, Musiq, Keith Sweat, Jaheim, and J.S. Actually, the performances weren't bad; in fact, Teena Marie put on an awesome show, but I kept having to get up out of my seat all night with people going back and forth from the restroom or beer runs, so I had a hard time trying to watch the show. In addition, the show was on a Friday night, and while the acts were okay, there were too many of them for a weeknight performance. They were going for an Old school/new school vibe, and the older patrons went crazy for Teena Marie and Keith Sweat, but they didn't show much response for Musiq or Jaheim. At any rate, the show dragged on well past midnight, and I kept getting bumped by people exiting the arena. It wasn't until 1:45 am that Alicia Keys came on stage, and by then, there were streams of people leaving the arena, making it quite difficult for me to see the show. She played for about 45 minutes, but the place was only about a quarter full when she finished her set.
