Here is an in-depth look at just some of the musicians that will be performing at “Higher Ground” tribute to music legend Stevie Wonder!!!

Al Cruz (Vocals) - Singer, songwriter, musician, and producer Al Cruz is most definitely a force to be reckon with. His talent has taken him from singing at the young age of nine at Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, to staring on Broadway as Simba in the critically acclaimed Disney’s Lion King. Many musical heavyweights have sung the praises of Al Cruz i.e. country great Kenny Rogers and Wyle Jean, who is currently working with Cruz for a new group signed to his label Clef Records, 3 on 3.

Avita (Vocals) - The beautiful and talented singer, songwriter, and chorographer Avita has been impressing audiences since her first performance in the fifth grade. Talent Unlimited High School Alumni, Avita has worked in an extensive workshop for the cast of Rent on Broadway, and has stared on NBC’s “Gimmie the Mike Talent Show” contest where she wowed judges and fans alike. Avita is currently working on a new album on her own label A Styles!!!!


Nessa’s Box- Perhaps the most cultural fussed band in the tri-state area, Nessa’s Box integration of psychedelic pop and innovative funk rhythms make them favorites for break-out band of 2005. All attendees of the widely acclaimed music program of Queens College, and known for there outlandish performances they have promised an performance on February 26th that can be described in one word………..Unforgettable!!!


Randy Niles (Bass) - is a veteran on the New York music scene with two independent releases already in his career. His ability to emulate Stevie’s bass style and soul gives Fussion a totally authentic sound that is enhanced by tight rhythm, horn and background vocal arrangements.


Drew Torres (Guitar, Vocals)- Hailing from the Bronx, this 19 yr. old musician has set a personal goal for his music to be heard and felt by the world. With over 11 years of experience under his belt, Drew is hitting the scene with his emotionally-packed, acoustic driven emo/ska-punk which touches on other various genres.

Darick Kelly (Drums) - Known as a musician’s musician, Kelly has earned the respect of all of his musical peers. Drawing inspiration from a large array of musical backgrounds, Kelly has developed a unique style that has won him praise throughout the music industry. An attendee of the elite performing arts school Purchase, Kelly has played on the historic stage of Cargnie Hall, VH-1 Divas Concert Tribute to Aretha Franklin, and fresh off an hugely successful stint as part of the eleven times DCI Champions, The Blue Devils!! Now performing regularly in the New Jersey Nets Halftime show, Kelly will share his talent Feb.26th 2005 to pay tribute to one of his influences Stevie Wonder!!

Jonathan Levant (Vocals) - All it takes is for someone with rare talent to excite the music industry and Jonathan Levant represents one of those few examples. Levant’s voice is remarkably expressive, able to handle both ballads and up-tempo dance tracks without losing confidence. Growing up singing in the church, his soulful sounds has been compared to gospel great Smokie Norful. Currently working on an up coming music release with music group 718, Levant is definitely a shining star on the music scene.

thanks for the info. It wouldn't be the first stevie tribute concert though, in fact weren't there a couple in the last year? Regardless, as he is my favorite living musician, I'm hardly complaining about him being overexposed (which he sure as hell isn't lately)
