This is too Funny

USHER is upset that Jennifer Lopez has used a sample of the JB's for her track "GET RIGHT", and guess why.. It seems USHER used the same sample for a track that didnt make his CD confessions. Now this is too funny, they are actually fighting about ripping someone off first. Now i know "samplers" will get crazy at that statement but lets be serious, with artists like James, and other RB greats of the day and alot of the 80's samples that are used the artists dont get paid, alot of them dont get listed as Writers.

A few years back Jessica Simpson used Mellencamps "jack and diane" in one of her tracks and didnt list Mellencamp as a writer, and the even funnier thing is that Mellencamp at the time was at Sony too. But in his case he owned and wrote the song, but alot of the FUNK and RB samples that are taken are in fact TAKEN, no artist gets paid.

I mean come on Vanilla Ice denied stealing UNDER PRESSURE from Queen, he said he came up with the riff.

J.Lo and Mariah had this fight with the "Firecracker" sample Mariah was supposed to use for Loverboy.

P.S. Mellencamp is listed as one of the writers of "I Think I'm In Love With You".

Hopefully this continues to the demise of J-Lo as a pop star. How many more times can she pull this off and have it brushed under the carpet by the media? The whole 'Firecracker' fiasco really wasn't as publicised as it should've been.

Vanilla Ice cracked me up with that stuff. He didn't actually say he came up with the riff, but his explanation was laughable when I remember the MTV clip of him discussing it (I'll paraphrase):

"The Queen song went 'ding ding ding da da ding ding...ding ding ding da da ding ding' and my song goes 'ding ding ding da da ding ding...ding ding ding ding da da ding ding.' It's totally different."

Pull off what? No one has exclusive rights to a sample. lol The "Firecracker" thing was a completely different situation, because Mottola basically stole the original version of "Loverboy", and handed it to J.Lo, forcing Mariah to hastily recut it with the Cameo sample. So hastily that it wound up sounding like crap.

Jennifer Lopez just seems like one of those creatures that attach themselves to a shark and eat the remains of the food they miss. I read a different article, which pretty much claimed that Lopez pretty much took a completed Usher track and grafted a rap onto it. Supposedly, the Usher song has been making the rounds for quite a while, and among fans it's pretty well known.

Ok, that's completely different, then. But fuck them both - they're still both using samples. lol

Well maybe Labels will realize that the days of these artists are almost over. Current trends have put the Music Business at its lowest ever.

Coincidental sampling happen like this all the time in hip-hop, which is where sampling is derived from. It's the pop acts that have huge fights over samples because their singles are so high-profile.

I think it's funny that Rich Harrison is the one who designed the new "horn sample" on the new J.Lo single, since he is the culprit behind Beyonce's "Crazy In Love". I can just imagine the messages A&R directors send him.

"Yeeeah message is for Rich. We need to have a big big hit single like Crazy In Love, with a big horn ensemble hook..."

But what does Rich Harrison really know about horns or arranging them? He had to find another horn sample.

no no you guys... Mariah was going to sample "Firecracker" by Yellow Magic Orchestra for her track "Loverboy". Instead, Jennifer Lopez used YMO's "Firecracker" for her own "I'm Real".. and Mariah had to use Cameo "Candy" on "Loverboy".
