I had kinda forgot how there was a revised Petestrumentals edition that surpassed the original edition I lent him, because I just happened to buy it with no problem when it first came out in 2001. Also because I didn't think he could fuck it up in 24 hours time, ykno? I thought that the time limit was low-risk enough.

CinisterCee said: I'm because I lent an original issue of Pete Rock's Petestrumentals to a guy at work last night. He phoned me and said it fucking BROKE! How the hell does a person break a CD??
That CD was soon replaced in the market with a revised version with different tracks, so it's not gonna be the easiest to replace. Last time I fucken lend someone a CD I sorta know what you mean, because I made the mistake of putting a bunch of CDs in my bag when I flew home and some Atlanta airport employee saw fit to relieve me of them. They stole my ATWIAD, along with Snoop's Doggystyle, & Sly's greatest hits. I got those back, but does anyone have a copy of "Ultimate Nina Simone" or Jaco Live In NYC vol.7 they'd be willing to burn me a copy of?

It's even hard to find the edition of Doggystyle that contains "Gz Up Hoez Down" (with the "Look Of Love" sample). I always consider leaving rare CDs at home when I travel. That post chills me to my very core!

It amazes me how badly folks can treat other people's stuff
You get it back & it's all scratched up, the fucking insert is gnarled the case is broken - how the fuck does SO MUCH damage happen from lifting it out the case & placing it in the player??? My cousing "borrowed" a cd of mine (without asking!!!) & returned it to me (after MONTHS of me asking for it) but in a cdr case Where's the original case, genious??? Still waiting for it I once loaned a friend a vhs tape of a movie years ago. He spilled flour in it & ruined it How the fuck does that happen? Bottom line, I don't loan out SHIT anymore . I lent my Public Enemy It Takes A Nation Of Millions and the insert came back all rippled like it was sitting in a puddle. I don't even know HOW cd's, their jewel cases, or inserts could get that much depreciation. Especially in such a short time!

Maybe they leave them sitting next to the heater or something I can understand a cracked cd case, that happens all the time. But to damage the contents?? That's just careless

I can understand a cracked jewel case, cd holding tabs missing, jewel case door hinges cracked off.... fine. I don't even give retail a hard time about this.
The liner notes should not look like they spent a couple minutes floating in a toilet. The CD should really have no scratches at all if they are being careful. Thank God I can still trust my best friends with original CDs, and they come back in good condition. [Edited 1/25/05 2:41am]

I lent my original "Boys for Pele" to a friend at school
and she never returned it. In the end I had to buy a replacement copy but the first pressing isn't available anymore so I had to get the new version with the PROFESSIONAL WIDOW remix on it instead of "In The Springtime of his Voodoo". I hate that version, it completely messes up a perfect, excellent, brilliant album. I even went as far as to tell the bitch she could have my new copy for keeps if she'd take the old copy back. Yet she never managed to do that in 2 more years of our being at school together. I also lent my Prince 1992 symbol album to a mate from school and he returned it with the jewelcase cracked in about 8 places. And they don't make that original one anymore either, so now I have to get it replaced with one that doesn't have the symbol on it. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

CinisterCee said: Well he said it didn't split in half (I still haven't seen it), but there is a crack from the centre to one edge.
Still doe. You ever physically broke a CD in half? Let's say: It takes alot of force! If I loaned NPS, I wouldn't give a damn if it got cracked. Serioulsy, though, I don't like to loan CD's because I never seems to get them back or it takes forever to get them back, or they come back damaged.

He even had the nerve to just give it back and not explain anything about what happened to it. Just handed it over as if he'd gotten it in that same state from me a few days before. I was like "what happened to this thing man?" and he simply said "Oh, I stepped on it a few times" a FEW times? what the hell was MY cd doing on the floor being stepped upon a FEW times????
