TRUST SOMEONE WITH A CD OF YOURS...

I'm pissed because I lent an original issue of Pete Rock's Petestrumentals to a guy at work last night. He phoned me and said it fucking BROKE! pissed How the hell does a person break a CD??

That CD was soon replaced in the market with a revised version with different tracks, so it's not gonna be the easiest to replace.

Last time I fucken lend someone a CD hmph!

hmmm ..just to check ... I mean if he's really lying to keep the CD himself... ask him to give you the broken pieces nod ehmm... if he asks why... just pretend you have techniques of repairing this with Scotch tape confused
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I've learnt to be extremely careful with my CD's even when you're still there but they're using it on thier stereo or something...I have a couple of friends who are absolutely hopeless at looking after them. They're lovely people and they're close to me but damn if I'll ever leave them with my CD's lol

No, he is bringing me the broken copy. I know it is actually broke.

But damn, I should just lend a burnt copy next time.. that's a good suggestion Izak.. A cd-r would have cost me much less grief than replacing the original, and the "cost" of not trusting this guy anymore.

That guy gets the

That sucks sad I'm not too sold on the CD-R idea though. I don't want to go through the hassle and expense (though both are minimal) for that. If the album is good, I want the person to go out and buy it! That's just me...

In this case, he was just going to play the cd in the background in his mobile unit as he drove around, so it wouldn't even be moving to and from its case too many times, and certainly not with much frequency for the 24 hours he had it in his posession before he managed to BREAK it. disbelief

He must have grabbed either side of the disc and pulled even though the centre of the digipack you have to press the centre down for it to release the cd. disbelief

I didn't think I needed to give him training on this! lol Silly me..

Oh well, I think I found a copy with the original tracklist on the Canadian Amazon site. Let's hope they don't send me the revised edition. pray

I have learned the hard way about trusting people with my CD's. One time a let a family member borrow some my Cd's and they were returned with scratches and ruined. From that point on, I have learned my lessson, I have decided that I will be burning people copy of CD's instead letting them borrow my CD b/c they don't return back in good condition and they make me pissed off. pissed

I don't feel good about burning a CD that they should really be buying themselves, but I guess if they don't care about Liner notes, etc then they don't plan on ever buying it. Leaving me with 2 options:

a) tellin' em to fuck off flip u because they don't care about my recommendation enough to buy it themselves.

b) lending them a burnt copy as a small "insurance" investment on my part if I really want them to hear it, but they wouldn't know what to expect if they went to buy it (total risk management on all levels).

Yknow, he's not a total bastard because
he phoned me at work (from his house, he's not on-shift) to tell me he broke it and told me how it happened, and that he would bring in my broken copy and buy me a new one, without any suggestion on my part.
So it wasn't like I had to harass him because I found out way after he returned it, etc.

Yeah see it's one of those digipacks, where the CD sorta clicks onto the button to stay inside, so to take it out, you have to push the centre in, otherwise you grab the edges the disc and bend it. (I imagine he bent it until it snapped).

Although, since it was a digipack, he could have sat on it and had the same effect.

Either way, he wasn't treating it with the care I expect. hmm

Well he said it didn't split in half (I still haven't seen it), but there is a crack from the centre to one edge. neutral

Still doe. neutral

You ever physically broke a CD in half?

Let's say:

It takes alot of force!

If it's just a crack then it might still work well enough for you to make a copy on your PC, as long as it doesn't have bits falling off it or something. Worth a shot, as it could save you the cost of replacing it...

I know how you feel, i always prefer having the original disc and not some burnt copy.
It's too bad that happened. me and my friend used to lend each other cds all the time, and nothing happned. A story like this makes me feel like never lending again.
I would definately never lend out anything rare that i got of ebay or amazon.
