From When/What Do You Mark the origin of "Funk-Rock" I'm not sure exactly when the term was coined, but when do you think the hybrid of hard rock and funk was born? Would it be with Sly or not fully until Funkadelic? Or perhaps neither of those two are the absolute earliest examples. And as far as "landmark" or "definitive" funk rock tunes here are some of my picks:

Yeah, for me it's that same area, right around the time Hendrix was doing "Who Knows" and "Power of Soul", and Sly was doing"Dance To The Music", "Sing A Simple Song" and "I Wannna Take You Higher", and Rotary Connection was doing their "Songs" album, around '69"...
