It's like my mother said, one day years ago. "I love me some Luther, with his sweet self." My well-educated mother used "sweet" in the gay context, not derisively, but matter of factly. I disagreed with her, but then she told me that Luther rarely if ever provides a gender for the "baby"'s in his songs. Then I was like, all right. But when I look at Luther now, it doesn't surprise me at all.

Remember when that video "Can I Take You Out Tonight?" came out. It was hysterical to me, because you know Luther wasn't interested in that woman.
