U2 "vertigo tour" to start in late march!

from u2.com:

U2's 2005 tour is set to be announced on U2.Com this Monday.

And right now we can tell you that it will be called 'The Vertigo Tour', that it will kick off on the US West Coast at the end of March before arriving in Europe in the summer... and that Kings of Leon are on board as support act in the US.

Keep checking U2.Com for more tour news as we get it.

On Monday we'll have the countries, cities, venues, dates - and the all-important ticket information.

We'll also be mailing you with details of how you - as a U2.Com Member - can take part in the advance presale of tickets, before they go on sale to the general public.

What do you think of the rumor that they're going to be playing 'in the round'? I'm hoping that there's still a heart-style section of seating for the fanclub.

Target stage.

I think as ever, Willie will do 'em proud.

Look at it this way, if you;re having any doubts - the tv screens idea sounded crap, the huge arch and a giant lemon sounded crap, the heart shaped stage with some fans in it idea sounded crap.... but when they were realised and up and working, they were phenomenal.

Have faith - it'll be stellar as always! Waiting on that e-mail dropping from U2.com this weekend - am SO excited!

more news (from billboard):

Ticket prices will average $90, including $49.50 on the low end and $165 on the high end. On the 2001 Elevation tour in support of the album "All That You Can't Leave Behind," the range was $45-$135.

As on that trek, the arena floor will be general admission for about 1,700-1,800 seats, depending on the building. And, like Elevation, the tour will feature unique production elements.

"This tour will be not unlike the last production in that the lowest priced tickets will be on the floor," says McGuinness. "The best seats are the cheapest, and we want people to get excited." He adds that details on distribution of floor tickets will be forthcoming. "Some will be on sale, some will be radio contest winners," McGuinness says.

It is possible some shows will be available as digital downloads. "We're exploring technology where it might be possible to download the show you've just seen," says McGuinness. "We've been talking to iTunes and the folks at Apple, with whom we have a great relationship, but it's not quite there yet. We're certainly looking at

The only time I saw U2 live was a rehearsal/pre-tour show in Hershey, PA.
This was the tour for Achtung Baby.
Tickets were $15.00.
This will be quite a price jump for me.

When they say "local time" for the US presales, I'm guessing that means wherever you are in the country tickets for your area go on sale @ 10am. i.e. a muufucka in NY can't beat me to tix in SF, right? hmm
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

tickets are the same price for everyone. general admission floor tix are 49.00 and the rest of the seats range up to 165. of course the ga seats will be the first to go since u2.com members get first crack at tickets.
