Crappiest and best 80's video.............

"we built this city"- Starshit.

Anyone caught this video? Just screams crap!

The 80's brought us so much to love and hate about biggrin

Best?

I'd say "the way u make me feel" by Jacko....."smooth criminal" may have better dancing, but the look of "the way u make me feel" is awesome and captues that moment in time perfectly. Plus the girl is fine too razz and Michael looked alot more convincing then in his leather bondage get up he so often wore back then.

The intro was something me as a kid wanted so much to acheive. "u knock me off my feet know baby.(thrusts pelvis at her) "hooooo" (or whatever u type that sound?)

I think "Take On Me" by A-Ha was one of the more inventive of the 80's, so I think it should be a contender.

Hmmm...I liked the era musically, but I can think of a lot of crappy videos.

Men Without Hats - "Safety Dance" (a Renaissance fair?!)
Lionel Richie - "Dancing on the Ceiling"
Dennis Edwards - "Don't Look Any Further" (looked like it was shot on a $5 budget)
Culture Club - "Karma Chameleon" (what's with the riverboat anyway?)
Dexy's Midnight Runners - "Come on Eileen"
Pat Benatar - "Love Is A Battlefield" (I love her music to death, but dance moves were a bad idea)
most of Cameo's early 80s videos
most of Prince's early 80s videos

Good videos:
most (if not all) of Michael Jackson's 80s videos
A-Ha - "Take On Me"

Crappiest: A Flock Of Seagulls "I Ran" - for the sheer fact you can see the camera in the mirrors.

Best: Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation short film

Blly Ocean - 'Get out of my car' is pretty crap too. And 'Forever young' by Alphaville disbelief

I like 'Wild boys' by Duran Duran, although it's very primitive lol
and yeah, 'Sledgehammer' too. Plus 'Spiderwebs' by the Cure. And I love 'Girls just want to have fun' by Cindy Lauper for some reason...

You haven't seen BAD until you've seen the video for Shannon's Give Me Tonight. If I remember, I'll post some screen caps later on. Great song, laughably bad video.

That's a cool example of why 80's were better than most videos
by mainstream artists nowadays, even if some elements were a bit
cheesy or primitive looking. They just seemed 2 b a hell of a lot
more imaginative back then. Today it's all about Fancy cinematography
& digital editing...so they look smooth, professional and boring.

I like the 'Kiss' video a lot. It had a big influence on me as a wee lad cool

I love Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" video nod And "Thriller" is one of my all-time favorite videos from the 80s.

And someone already mentioned my crappiest one: "Dancing on the Ceiling" by Lionel Ritchie, although I'm sure I can think of many more.

i think paula abdul's cold hearted snake video is definitely one of the best and so is smooth criminal by jacko!

worst, would have to be "dancing in the streets" with mick jagger and david bowie. what were they thinking?

Some of the best 80's videos IMHO

Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
AHA - Take on Me
Michael Jackson - Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean
Madonna - Express yourself, Like a Prayer
Herbie Hancock - Rockit

Some of the worst 80's videos IMHO

Lionel Richie - Hello, even though I like the song itself.
Paula Abdul - Opposites Attract
STYX - Mr. Roboto
Tone Loc - Wild Thing, but it get some credit for having Traci Camilla(sic) Johns in it.

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart

My memory is too fuzzy to remember any more, I might come back when I watch some VH1 classics.
