This isn't even a contest. Chaka. Whitney's is good, but it's virtually a copy of Chaka's. Why bother unless you're gonna change it up at least a little bit?

r u serious! CHAKAs vocal was off the hook compared to Whitneys thin voice.....even the old disco music sounds better than the music used on the remake...Chaka put her foot into "Woman!"

Well, I guess I'll go with Chaka's, although I really like the intro that was added to Whitney's version ("Whatever you want, Whatever you need....", etc) - nice chords and vocals.

hmmm

Whitney did this cut a justice. She ain't Chaka but it is a good listen in my opinion. And yeah...it's real funny when whitney does that 'Chaka Khan...CHAKA KHAN!'.

It's even more entertaining when she says 'bobby...BOBBAY!' nutty

Both versions are cool with me, primarily because (besides the intro) Whitney's version was basically a copy of Chaka's.

If I had to vote...well, I have Chaka's version on vinyl, and I don't have Whitney's at all...so there you go.

now don't you all be silly....Chaka of course!!!! Whitney's is nice too more modernized dance version...Chaka just has that nostalgic retro feel.

The whitney version is worse because Oprah used it in her show. Was Oprah able to convince those transfixed women that she was just like them? Oprah has completly disappointed me by turning her show into a celebrity kiss ass fest. Everybody is great, everybody is her friend, every audience member is smiling like their hypnotized.... biggrin .....Does she really believe those phoney hollywood people are her friends? People like maya and quincy are real friends, ignore the rest O. : talk to the hand

I like the Chaka version better by the way.

I don't understand how anyone can choose Whitney's over Chaka's original.

Nah, Oprah doesn't like all the celebrities. She was very wishy washy with Madonna when she was on her show in late 2003. A month or so later, she had her lesbian lover, I mean friend, Gayle on and was talking about how Madonna said some things that annoyed her. She didn't want to confront her on the show, so rather than doing that to her face, she dished her with Gayle on a different show in front of the studio audience instead. For all the good she's done, Oprah is a hopelessly naive hypocrite.

Ummmmm...No. Listen to them both. Whitney puts POWER into that damn song. She does NOT sound like Chaka. She sounds better than Chaka. Especially that "IIIII GOT IT!!" part. Chaka don't do that shit. Pa-yow.

Yea right..if anything its the opposite..to me thats the part that really differentitates them..to me , Whitney sound like she straining to push that out whereas Chaka sound like she was puffing on a cigarette, took it out and went to screaming and then went back to smoking....effortlessly almost.....Chaka's voice is wayyyyy more powerful, loud and fuller than Whitneys..ESPECIALLY on that part! IMO
