i love the pixies. love, love, love the pixies. saw 'em in chicago last november and had a ball.

husker du, not so much. i kinda like bob mould's "black sheets of rain" album, and i kinda like his "workbook" album a little bit, but husker du's a little bland for my tastes. go figure. though i'd rather listen to them than, like, dave matthews or something.

I wonder why the pixies were never big in this country (U.S.A), even during the whole "grunge" thing.

it's crazy...kurt cobain was such a fan that sometimes nirvana sounded like a pixies tribute band...bowie's been a huge fan for years...so many bands influenced by the pixies got big in the states, but the pixies themselves? not so much. go figure.

Seeing them live this year, I was astounded at how well Pixies music stands up. It remains fresh and, perhaps, is even more accessible given the amount of new/er music that was influenced by the band.

Pixies are cool...and Husker Du, wow, nearly forgot about them. I used to have a couple of their albums on cassettes, but those are among the many that disappeared over the years...so I haven't listened to them in quite awhile. neutral

I never loved the Pixies much, but I think that was just the contrarian in me acting up. Everybody was wetting themselves over that band in my college days, and that just turned me off of them.

I could never get past Bob Mould's voice (although at least his voice had a touch of character - the drummer was a total non-entity vocally, I thought). However, there was at least one song per Husker Du lp that I absolutely loved - Crystal on Candy Apple Grey, Ice Cold Ice on Warehouse, Books About UFOs on New Day Rising, etc...

Pixies were fabulous ( now my favourite album is Bossa Nova), I don't know Husker Du music, one of my friends has Bob Mould solo record he told me they are goods ( more pop than HD) but I didn't listen to them yet ( I know that one was made in Paisley Park).
