What musicians themselves are listening to!

I love reading about what musicians are listening to, because it reminds me that they are fans/listeners/learners too.

Blender magazine usually has a box beside their reviews that allow a glimpse into the playlists of today's stars.

ie. Jay-Z's current listening:
-Coldplay: A Rush Of Blood To The Head
-U2: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

Gwen Stefani's current listening
-Trinere: All Night, The Greatest Hits
-Club Nouveau: Life Love & Pain

Blender even has a sidebar where they photograph musicians coming out of a music store and what they bought that day. lol It's not so different from some the org's "What Are You Listening To?" threads.
-----

Maybe it's my voyeuristic nature of gettin into celeb's business, but I love hearing about which artists inspire other artists.

Like:

-the laundry list of 80s rap stars Missy Elliott listed off after "Work It" on her Under Construction album.

-how P. Diddy tests new stereo equipment with the Ice Cube album Amerikka's Most Wanted (!).

-MTV's Diary Of Chris Rock showing him going to buy a Jay-Z album.

-U2 recently admitting that Franz Ferdinand is competing for "Best Band In The World".

-Britney Spears saying her favorite album was Purple Rain. eek

-In 1997, Janet Jackson mentioned she really liked Jon B's album.

Provide more examples if you recall these sort of details!

2. Commodores - Girl I Think The World About You
3. Rufus & Chaka Khan - Once You Get Started
4. Johnny Hammond - Fantasy
5. Ramsey Lewis - Whisper Zone
6. Leon Ware - What's Your Name
7. Ashford & Simpson - Stay Free
8. Kleeer - Tonight's The Night
9. Dexter Wansel - Never Forget
10. Sister Sledge - Pretty Baby
11. Jose Feliciano - California Dreaming
12. Skyy - Here's To You
13. Dexter Wansel - Life On Mars
14. The Real Thing - Rainin' Through My Sunshine
15. Lalo Schifrin - Theme From Enter The Dragon
16. Marvin Gaye - Here, My Dear
17. Patrice Rushen - Music Of The Earth

Question. Are you asking what do "musicians" listen to? Or are you asking what do "pop stars" listen to? There is a difference?

I remember when Prince won his Lifetime Achievement/Award of Merit at 1995 American Music Awards... after lipsyncing through The Purple Medley and dancing with Mayte to Gold Experience tracks, his acceptance speech gave a long list of shout-outs, and has influences never really changed... Joni Mitchell, Sly, EWF..

yo who else did Prince list off, anyone remember? confuse

95% of the replies to threads on this site musicians are not interested in, we could care less about "pop stars" other than "where is my check?"[b]
