Favorite Song:

1) Favorite Song: Blasphemous Rumors
2) Favorite Album: Speek And Spell (MUTE: European import with bonus songs)

I like Depeche Mode--they're not perfect, and Martin Gore is hit-or-miss, but over all they've got some of my favorite 80's material. I wish they would go back to their original formula--being Neo-Post-Modern pop's Backstreet boys.

I've been playing the shit out of 'Songs of Faith and Devotion' lately, especially 'Condemnation'. I love how gravelly his voice sounds on this song; it's a perfect contrast to his usually schooled singing.

I have about 5 of their cd's and I really dig them. I have DM moods, though. One song of theirs always haunts me and finds its way into my psyche..."never let me down". The music ....melody...no need to break it down..it simply affects me.

"Violator" was a nice album. "Enjoy The Silence" and "Personal Jesus" were the standouts.

I felt that a lot of people slept on Dave Gahan's "Dirty Sticky Floors" that was a great maxi with incredible remixes (especially the Junkie XL Vocal!)

By far my Fave DM album is Violator cause it crushed their nancyboy image and turn them into sexy men, but Music for the Masses was just as strong and both have great songs. I like Black Celebration from their early years but it's the only one I've heard. Aside from The Singles - 81 - 85, which is a great pile of stuff, I'll wait to buy some of their early work or anything after Ultra.

i love and adore "violator", "songs of faith and devotion" and "music for them asses". all the old stuff i can take or leave, actually. "i feel loved" is a freakin' hot song - so incredibly powerful to me.

how funny..i was listening to Jesse Johnson's greatest hits today and thought one of his songs (which i cant think of the name at this moment) sounded like what depeche mode would sound like if they were a soul band...

I love dark, moody music, maybe bordering on depression, thus Depeche Mode is my group. I first heard the 12'inch dance version of Strange Love, and Walking in My Shoes, and Personal Jesus, and I dug them very much. I have a couple of their albums and I love Dave's look and mostly all of their music. Others may not care for his version, but I like Marilyn Manson's version of Personal Jesus as well.

I have the same three albums. Their early singles with Vince Clarke were very well-crafted, happy, synth-pop. When he left he seemingly took all the joy with him. However, their later gloom pop singles I found equally irresistible. Both their singles collections are non-stop synth-pop bliss.

Dreaming Of Me
New Life
Just Can't Get Enough
People Are People
Master And Servant
Blasphemous Rumours
Everything Counts
A Question Of Time
A Question Of Lust
etc.
etc.

It's all good.

I never really got into them until the late 90s. I have their last two albums, Exciter and Ultra, both of which are fantastic. I picked up their live DVD a couple months ago, and from what I can see, they definitely sound better in the studio than they do live. I'll stick the with the CDs lol.

I love them. I don't have Ultra though. I got the live DVD for X-mas but I haven't watched it yet.

I HATE THAT SONG!!! It's their WORST. It's also one of their worst albums. Ultra...a close second (Or is that the worst one)

I have a tough time picking out a favorite song. For some reason I really like "Everything Counts."

Fave albums would be a tie between Some Great Reward and Violator.

I flit between loving them and can't standing them.

The beginning stuff is too simple for me (though a few I do like) to like and the latest stuff is SO depressing in sound and lyric.

My fav era is Some Great Reward through Violator. Some really great music came during that period. I really miss the input of Alan Wilder...although he is the reason for thier darker sound, which I am not fond of. I did not appreciate it when they picked up the guitars...maybe for an album, but not for 3. ANd this is not to say I don't appreciate their newer output...at least I can still listen to it (unlike Erasure...I have a lot of difficulty with them now), but there is nothing new nor exciting for me anymore.

I have tried to listen to some of thier lastest remixes on the O4 Album. I would say they are Ok. The only one that I am digging so far is Enjoy The Silence.
