We got a station like that out here (KISS FM 98.1).When I was in Chicago last summer,I found a station like that as well...I was going nuts! It was a Friday and they were spotlighting the year 1978.They actually played "Freaky Deaky" by Roy Ayers!! When was the last time you heard that song on the radio?? Man,that was incredible!!

v105 played stuff that was pretty typical, imo. woulda been better if they stretched out a bit further than playin "we are family" every 2 hours. it had a lotta potential, but still...kmoj plays better old-skool stuff every sunday than v105 did any day of the week.

You're right, some of it was pretty standard, but they played some good stuff, too. I don't think they have a lot of money in their pockets, because I swear to God, sometimes they were playing music taken from the internet! lol I heard those pops you get from improper CD rips. KMOJ is better on Sundays, but that was just the problem. It's only Sunday.

We need a station like that down here. Besides the hip hop stations, the only other R&B stations have a "soft soul" format and they slip in an old song every now and then, but they are usually all slow. They do throwdown on Saturday afternoons from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. though, and the other one has an old school mix on Saturday evening. Other than that, they all play Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Freddie Jackson, and Luther Vandross 50 times a damn day.

I wasn't prepared for these dead times we live in but I'm sure as hell glad I saved all my old records. biggrin

You bring up a very good point.I love any radio station that specializes in "old school" music, but damn,do they have to play the same old songs over and over? Can't they broaden their playlist just a little? For example, our old school R&B station (KISS FM 98.1 in the Bay Area) regularly plays "Brick House" by the Commodores.I love that song, but why can't they surprise listeners and play something like "Slippery When Wet" or even "Too Hot Ta Trot" once in a while? Or instead of playing Rick James "Super Freak" every other hour, why not play "Bustin Out" or "Dance Wit Me" every now and then?
