80s R&B Jam of the Day: "I Want Your Body" by Madame X (1987)

Producer Bernadette Cooper is all over this track, and she's hilarious at times...

"Uncontrollable desire...passion
Chills running up and down my spine...ooh...I'm losing my mind
Wild....very very very erotic baby
Temporary...Lawd!"

The song sounds like something Vanity 6 would have recorded if they had lasted throughout the remainder of the decade. There is a definite "Prince feel" to this song. It's a sexy song with alot of attitude and catchy singalong hooks...

"Say lust...everybody say lust
Say lust....America say lust
It's a triple-double drag baby,ooh,without lust"

These girls know exactly what they want and they're not afraid to demand it either...

"Work me all night long baby, work me all night long baby, work me all night long baby"

After some fake moaning and getting all worked up,Bernadette warns her would-be-lover that "This better be good" lol

who remembers this jam from 1987? Second single from their debut album.

It got a little airplay out here on the West Coast, but I was surprised that it didn't become a bigger hit.I like it even more than the first single ("Just That Type Of Girl").

Hell yeah! One of the funkiest jams of the late 1980s. Bernadette talks plenty shit too..."I...I lust you".

Oh, I used to love that puppet! She could talk plenty shit too. She's definately on the verge of being "X" also. I remember watching her on "Solid Gold" and my grandmother thought she was an immitation of Dionne Warwick. lol

"L-U-S-T....you know what I'm talking about
Do it to my mind!"

One of the best things about this song is Bernadette's crazy little ad libs.
