This is a good one. I've been wanting to get it for a while. It's missing, notably, "Missing You", and others probably, but I think the inclusion of the remix of "Not Over You Yet" (this song is hot!) along with most of the classic hits makes it worthy.

Disc: 1

1. Chain Reaction
2. Baby Love
3. Where Did Our Love Go
4. You Can't Hurry Love
5. Stop! In the Name of Love
6. You Keep Me Hangin' On
7. Happening
8. Reflections
9. Love Hangover
10. Boss
11. Why Do Fools Fall in Love
12. Mirror Mirror
13. Muscles
14. Work That Body
15. Force Behind the Power
16. Workin' Overtime
17. Take Me Higher
18. Until We Meet Again [Hex Hector Remix]
19. Not Over You Yet [Metro Radio Edit]
20. I'm Coming Out
21. Upside Down
22. My Old Piano
Disc: 2

1. You Are Everything Listen Listen Listen
2. Touch Me in the Morning Listen Listen Listen
3. Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To?)
4. I'm Still Waiting
5. Ain't No Mountain High Enough
6. I'm Gonna Make You Love Me
7. Someday We'll Be Together
8. Remember Me

"workin' overtime" is on their YES! Some of that album is hot! "if we hold on together" is nice, from cartoon "land before time"

"WORK THIS".....

But there is a catch. There are two verisons of this disc. One is one disc (and the tracklisting is rather bland and heavy on standard stuff), the other the one I posted. Also, it's an import (would an American disc have a tracklisting like that?) with an insane price of $42+ but I'm planning to buy it used and it should only cost about half of that.

The one that Harle posted is titled The Motown Anthology and is the best dobule-disc representation of her years at Motown I've seen. Naturally there won't be anything from the RCA years on there. If you want that there are other compilations.

And then there's this one:

Shitty, shitty mastering (I think Ross had a hand in this herself). It's got a lot of the RCA stuff, too, but skip it by all means!

It just might kill them! The source of record companies power is to create as many greatest hits sets as possible but always exclude at least one fan favorite. Not familar with that song (I'm not a huge Ross fan), so where is it from and what's it like and was it a hit?

"Pieces Of Ice" is from her 1983 album 'Ross' which was on RCA Records. The album wasn't very successful.I get pissed when record companies don't include some of the minor hits on these compilations.I have a compilation from her RCA years, and it doesn't include the 1985 single "Telephone",a song that I really like.

This looks like an OK compilation, but I wish it included a few songs that you don't normally see on these types of compilations: "I'm Getting Ready For Love" (1977),"Telephone" (1985),"Love Me" (1973) and "It's My House"(1979).These are excellent singles that deserve to be here!

Being a UK or possibly Japanese release might have something to do with it. Also, it's just hard with artists like Diana and Donna, who have had not only major hit singles (I'm shocked not to see the tribute song "Missing You", even if this is from another country) but also good minor hits that rarely get their do (well, as any Donna set ever included the Top 40 "Woman In Me"?)

The 3-CD 'Ultimate Collection' includes "The Woman In Me".That's one of the reasons why I bought that set.I love that song and I wanted to have it in clear, remastered form.It also contains the other two hits from the Quincy Jones-produced album. The third disc even includes a 1996 remix of "State Of Independence".But don't be fooled, this compilation is a mess,so if you're thinking about getting it,proceed with caution.

Was "Tenderness" a single? That whole album is good. Glad I bough the deluxe editoin of it. Both verisons of the songs sound great.

I have a Motown-only Diana compilation, and it does feature "Tenderness" (one of my favorite songs of hers).

Not only do a number of Diana sets overlook minor hits such as "Pieces of Ice" and "Telephone" (both great songs, BTW), they all seem to miss one of my favorites: "Dirty Looks".

I'm similarly frustrated with Donna Summer compilations (since she's been mentioned in this thread). I have yet to find a comprehensive one that includes "Dinner With Gershwin".

Nearly every song on that album could have been a single. In fact,"Tenderness" received alot of radio airplay in my area even though it was never officially released as a single.

I agree. A very strong album where all the songs are singles. They were all radio friendly.
