I'm sorry but Remain in Light is not Talking Heads best album!

I'm sorry, it isn't. Or at least that shouldn't be the first choice of album to choose as a starting point of anyone interested in learning about Talking Heads.

I'd go with the first 3 albums.

I agree, kinda.... 'Fear of Music' and 'Speaking in Tongues' would be my first two choices

Whoever said it was??

I like 77, Speaking in Tongues, and Little Creatures best.

I definitely enjoyed the Talking Heads for all the years they were together--and lamented their dissolution--but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that although they have many wonderful, wondrous songs lurking throughout all their records (Drugs, Air, This Must Be The Place), when I go back and listen to them, of the studio stuff, REMAIN IN LIGHT is the one that holds up best all the way through on an album level. The production is fascinating. I wish to hell they'd release a remaster. I agree it's not the one people should start out with--but it sho shouldn't be dismissed.

I think it is. But that's one opinion. Side One is a masterpiece.

Now I'm not saying it's a bad album, even though I think there are some wack songs on there. I'm saying that that's not the best Talking Heads album to start off with.

This couldn't have come up at a better time cause I'm just about to get into buying all the HEADS albums I never bought when they were together. I know most of their popular singles but I didn't just want to go cheap and buy a hits collection. I'm sure you'll agree that Girlfriend is better & Burning down the House could easily be played as funk jams, that's why I like them. I'll take your word for it when I eventually get those CDs.

Cool. Then I would suggest that you get "Speaking In Tongues" if you wanna hear their Space-age African New Wave/Punk/Funk. nod
