Those four units were probably sold through BMG. I think they still have it in their catalog. I should get it from their before they yank it off there. My sister is a member, but I'm not.

I don't think BMG or any catalogue is counted by SoundScan.

Some huge music stores (like HMV in downtown Toronto) still stock the remainders of the 1990 pressings. That's where those 4 came from.

The sales of MJ's back catalog are pretty incredible given all the negative publicity he's received of late. I know he's sold a lot more worldwide too. Is there any other artist whose back catalog continues to sell as well as his? The Beatles maybe, but apart from them?

I bought my copy of Dream Street in the used CD section of a record store back in the mid-'90s. Brand new and immaculate. I was lucky. Maybe you'll luck up.

Not last week....that's through the entire last year! It's out of print but some stores might still stock it, I guess. Unless those were expensive imports?

I'm amazed at Mariah Carey's sales for her x-mas cd.
How old is that cd?
It sold almost twice Whitney's x-mas cd
& Whitney's cd was new last year.
The $$$ just keeps rolling in from that cd.
X-mas cd = goldmine.

If it's popular enough and those tend to be a gamble (I doubt Whitney's will continue to have good numbers). Mariah and maybe that Steamroller probably released the most modern classic Christmas albums, which still sell to this day. Others will fade into bargin bins overtime (hear that, Clay).

I wonder who actually found a SoundScan-able copy of Dream Street in America? That's like finding a Golden Ticket in a Willy Wonka chocolate bar!

As of July 2004, there was one on the shelf in the big-ass HMV in downtown Toronto (Yonge St.).

Hell, they had a CD copy of Donna Summer's The Wanderer LP at the Sam's across the street. That thing sells for huge bucks on eBay since it's been out of print for over 15 years. Don't ask me where they get this stuff - guess it's just back stock. lol

I was in Toronto and I was shopping on Yonge and Bloor streets (I even shopped in the Eaton Centre), but I was primarily looking for clothes. I should've went CD shopping! I would've found some jewels.

FYI for those interested....

Michael Jackson has scanned over 5 million CD's at U.S. retail over the past three years (Nov. 2001-Nov. 2004).

* This total does not include sales for material recorded at Motown/Univeral. Nor does it include any material he recorded with The Jacksons.

Just more proof he is innocent.

And those were the ones that sold a significant amount. She also had imports, including one simply titled "Greatest Hits", which came out right after the lsat "Believe" hit in "Europe". It has a picture clearly from that "Believe' era and sells at many stores (even stores like Meijer and Kmart, which don't regularly carry imports) for the price of a domestic release. Yeah, the many labels that she has been on are terrible with those "Greatest Hits". The one i really don't get is "20th Century Masters: 2", which somehow managed WB songs like "Believe". What?!
