BET Studio Jams last night I was working around the house last night while watching BET Jazz again. Last night, they had an electric banjo player! I didn't catch anyone's names because I got buy, and by the time I got back, they were on to a show about African art.
But the banjo the guy was playing ("jazz" style, not like Roy Clark) was really different. It looked like a blue Gibson SG, where somebody cut a big hole in the middle and stuck a banjo in it. But it was definitely a banjo (I counted the strings and tuning pegs, and the guy was even playing with one of those picks you mount on your thumb). The guitar player was an old guy who looked almost exactly like Charlie Watts from the Rolling Stones. I didn't recognize anyone in the band, but then again, most of the jazz I listen to is by dead guys, and I could only maybe recognize John Scofield, Michael Brecker, or maybe the Marsalises. I did recgnize Victor Wooten last week, but he was playing his bass, so that wasn't too tough. Anyway, it was pretty different. Did anyone else catch this? Who the heck were those guys? When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born. | |
