Any Stevie Ray Vaughan fans here?

hey

Just bought a couple of cd's (texas flood, In step) from this guy after reading nothing but positive reviews on the net. And man I must say he's one hell of an artist. Haven't heard anyone play the guitar that good in a long long time. I'm definitly hooked for life on this guy. anyone else enjoying his music to? (And is it just me or does all good music these days come out of Texas?)

Love Stevie Ray. You should try to find a CD he did with Albert King (titled In Session) if you want to hear guitar playing genious. drool I have some pretty cool Stevie bootlegs and limited edition type stuff of Stevie's. Seeing live performances by Stevie makes you realize that true and natural talent/musicality is God given. Sad loss, for sure.

However, I have to disagree with the Texas comment. Mainly because when I hear Texas I think about the Simpson Twits and Bush. Who from Texas is dishing out good music kev?

Well I'm not much of a country music person so no wonder I wouldn't know. I do have ZZ top in my collection, however.

I also forgot to mention, just for kicks, about the song Stevie Ray Vaughn played on for Teena Marie. The song is "You So Heavy" off Teena's Emerald City. I don't know that people are aware that was him playing but it was a interesting collaboration.

btw: does anyone know if SRV had anything to do with Bowie's "let's dance" album? I ask bacause on amazon someone made a list of albums a 'SRV' completist should have and "Let's dance" was in it, for some reason that eludes me. Could just be a mistake though.

I love SRV and own almost all of the official releases. I am fortunate to have had the live experience, at a very close range. He was a monster bluesman. I recommend Live at Carnegie Hall, recorded on his birthday. A great CD.

Yes, Stevie plays lead on most of Let's Dance and, as I recall, did a few of the early shows on the Serious Moonlight Tour.

SRV was a true gem. When I learned of his death, I felt like I'd lost an uncle.

I love that man. worship Texas Flood is good stuff. Get "Couldn't Stand the Weather" next. It's a lot of cover songs on it, but it's really worth it. He didn't really have a lot of studio releases. sad
